Hi Again

I checked and posts do not appear on all alt.support.epilepsy newsgroup
servers.

For example, I posted messages on the Outlook Express server that did not
appear on the Google version.

The Google version requires a subscription and I believe Yahoo! requires you
subscribe, too.

Either way, you may not be getting all the messages people are posting to
this newsgroup.

If my postings seemed like non-sequiturs it may either be they were or the
server ate my predicate message.

Also, remember: I have brain damage so the best advice I can give you is to
ignore me.

Stay strong.

Ignore you - not logical - you are a valuable part of this newsgroup.  All I can
say is there must be some sort of right or left wing conspiracy.

This must explain why at rare times I have noticed a person out of the blue will
have an answer to a thread that wasn't there before.

I'm trying to stay strong, but I do have my moments.

Do the first 2 you list above (Google and Yahoo!) Charge anything for
subscribing?  The one I used didn't.   What you do is give your name, email
address, and some other stuff about yourself that *they keep (phone number
possibly and state or province?) .   Then I got a note back within ~5
minutes that had the terms of use, or similar, and clicked 'reply to sender'
with Subject = Accept (or whatever they told me to do when the mail
arrived).  That confirms to them your Email Address, and technically they
now have a Contract from you that you'll not spam etc.  Based on that anyone
who does (send spam) can then be removed for non-compliance.

I forget how I resubscribed (about 3 months ago) after being off for 4-5
weeks.   I think I did a Groups Search under Internet Explorer? for
Epilepsy, it came back with about 2 groups (uk and here), then it said I
needed a Posting Server to post on the group and 'do you  want me to find
one for you?'  -- I clicked Yes, and it came back with about 4-5 ones that
would access alt.support.epilepsy.  I picked one (Don't remember which one--
Possibly a Canadian one), but any messages I post like this one, after I've
clicked File and Send, it does a spellcheck, then my messages appear about
90 seconds after that, quicker during the day when it's quieter here.

I wondered if you might be able to get rid of Some of the junk that
follows posts here, IF you have Tools that include 'Parental Controls' ??
Chance to be Young at Heart.    I think if you have that through M.soft? it
scans mails for Adult Subjects, Content or words and either Moves it to the
'Parent's Folder' OR discards it, at your option.
If you're getting a bunch of the Adult mails to Inbox after posting
here, that means the group is still being Robot Harvested from some sites.
Like I said before, *none of the trolls Read these groups, those are Robot
harvested.  That's what "Bill" promised to fix on Windows XP-2 or whatever
he calls the next one.  It's not just  irritating to us, it costs Businesses
Billions per year in lost Bandwidth and Productivity upgrading networks,
filters and programs.

Another choice, if you have extra email addresses available, is you
could set up a 'New Mark' with some kind of antispam filler (*NOT spam or
nospam as the Asia Robots remove those automatically), but something like
deletethis or extrastuff  in mid-text of the address before you Re-subscribe
under the second ID. (You can still keep the First ID. and compare what you
see on that alt.ep newsgroup vs. the new ID, until you're sure it's reliable
enough.)  I think where you tell the Server your Email, you type the Correct
Second One to them.
The Filler Junk will defeat the Robo-Harvesters reading these groups for
addresses.   (On one of the 'Geek Groups' I once read, One fellow had his
Email set to Spam@nospam.com <--- so when the Robots picked up his Address,
removed spam and nospam, all that was left was '@.com'  !!   I expect he's
still online there, but that was a good choice at the time for his.)

Last, do you get any 'user support' from rr.com as a Provider?  (i.e. do
they have a help line or website?)   SOME of the junk I was getting, came
from my Own Provider, so I wondered if the junk you got was ALL from here,
or if some was leaking through from rr dot com if there's a user directory
that someone there might use to find your address.  (I've had my fair share
of junk from there, although not as large a volume as Aol, UUNET or Asia I
mentioned earlier.)    That's Another thing that would show up if you had a
'Second Mark'.  By using one to Only post here, and the other for other
groups, Emails, etc., you'd know that 80% of the stuff might come from
postings.   (I open the headers of junk I get, and if I see 6-8 Rogers
addresses in Alpha order, or randomized, I know they're dictionary attacks
on my provider and not from alt.supp.ep group.)
There's an earlier post that's sent to this group and about 5 others.  I
forget the sender, but he's on Rogers.  He should be offline later today.
He used a dictionary program to send a Chain Letter junkmail to those sites.

Talking about postings not showing up; I posted a response to one of your recent
messages and I don't see it anywhere.  Vanished.  Gone.

Hi Barb, it's not the one of Afternoon 16th was it?  I have my Group
Messages set to Sort by Subject Title, and your Reply to Mark's other post
had a Subject of "Donkeys, Shower Cameras, Optical Conclusions and Seizures"
(his topic).   Your Message was timestamped at 234PM Eastern time, on that
thread.
(I leave all my messsages as 'keep messages even if already read' when I
set up the Newsgroup stuff, and they don't expire off threads for 2-5 days.
It appears to depend on the Sender's Machine? when they disappear - some
vanish in 24 hours, while others might stay up on my reader for 4-6 days,
even if I've done with them or they're junk mails.)   G.R.
