Hi all. For the past year I have been "thoughtful" and exploring about
starting new cable programming that
focuses on people with disabilities. I am posting to this group
specifically because I have finally spoken to a person in charge of the
local access cable programming here.
My project is to create airable videos focusing on the nature of
disabilities, the supports that are available, products that work and are
helpful, struggles and successes with public programs, and a multitude of
other meaningful programs. At the moment I am seeking partners that are
willing to be videotaped for airing. I have some ideas of the content, but
the specifics would depend on the person. If you have tapes of quality to
air, those are OK as long as the applicable permissions are AVAILABLE FROM
PRODUCERS OR OWNERS.
My belief is that a lot of people are in the world, in our community that
are cut off, disenfranchised, making a difference in the worlD, and being a
real person. Inspirational TV? Yes, in part. The first step is to talk about
ideas. We can do that over the email or in phone or at a diner. Next, making
a tape that would be meaningful to people in our community. There is no
money involved in this. The cable companies are required to air for free
community service productions. Right now the only cost is time, and buying a
tape for a digital video camera. I
I am just one person. I am embarking on this journey of my own accord. I
work as a professional rehabilitation counselor for the last 20 years, but
do not wish to affiliate this idea with my employers. I am think of forming
a non-profit that could help to expand the scope of "Abilities TV", Write
back and lets talk.

I think your concept is a good idea. Good luck with it!
