Hi anyone who had the VNs but found it to be ineffective, have you considered
having it removed?  I am in the process rightnow of getting ready to have my
VNS removed since it has become ineffective or actually more problematic for
me.  And jsut wondering if anyone has and what is all involved.  Thanks!  Ann

Howdy!

My VNS wasn't doing a thing for me.

It isn't doing any harm in there so we just turned it off.

Who knows... someday you might want to turn it back on again. (Turned mine
on again about a year ago after it was discovered that I was having sleep
problems and I started therapy for it.

BTW: They can take the device itself out but anybody who has had the implant
will have the wires in them for the rest of their life.

Actually I talked wit the surgeon today and they take it all except for the
little tiny coil wrapped around the nerve itself.  My doctor agreed (new doc)
that it was not serving any purpose for me.  Lately when a seizure has started
and I am able to swipe the magnet, it sends me into more seizures.  This has
happened for the pst 6 months and I am jsut tired of it.  SO last Monday it was
turned off, and if by June improvement has been shown then he agreed to remove
it.  I guess every doc has different heroies on this and what can and can't be
removed.  So that is where I am in the stage of this right now.  I have been
seizure free since turning it off and tweaking of my meds, so lets hope and
pray this is a solution for me.  Thanks for listening!  Ann
