Hi Diane
Welcome to the newsgroup. You'll find a lot of people here who share this
condition with you and can advise you on how they have dealt with their
condition.
Please tell us more. What are your symptoms? Has the doctor given you a name
for your type of epilepsy? Are you taking medicines? and which ones?
The following websites will be helpful for starters.

Howdy Dianne!
If the doctor doesn't have epilepsy him/herself, s/he doesn't have a clue
about how it will effect your life or (ESPECIALLY) how to cope with it.
With epilepsy comes a bunch of "DOs and DON'Ts" that you should follow for
your own safety.
How they will effect your life all depends on your lifestyle and personal
priorities.
I'll let'cha know... It's gonna' take a LOOOONG time (maybe even a lifetime)
to learn how to cope with it.
