Hy, I'm 40 yrs old and my neurologist suggested me to move from Depakin to
Depakin Chrono. Has anyone experience about that, and can give me any
information about actual effectiveness of Chrono? Tx a lot.

You don't seem to have a lot of replies...   A Chrono version or Controlled
Release, means the pill will be released into your system more slowly over a
longer time.   It allows a dose to give you a more stable blood level than
might be the case with the Straight Depakin.
I've use Tegretol CR (Controlled Release) since 1995, for example, and
by taking it Once (now) or Twice (1994 -1997) per day,  I had more stable
level of Carbamazepine (Tegretol) than I'd get with straight Tegretol Pills.
I was never even offered the original version of Tegretol, and don't know if
anyone takes other than a Time released version of that.

That's all the Chrono does.   It *can give you better seizure control,
because the Blood Levels of the Med. can be balanced to keep a more stable
level over a longer period of time.   Some of the pills, even if you take
them later than prescribed, or forget to take a dose, once you're at optimum
level and have used it a while,  you have less chance of getting a seizure
as a result.     G./

I'm in the same position as G. I've been taking Tegretol for ~30 years.
Initially just ordinary tegretol pills, then went on to tegretol controlled
release (much the same as depakin chrono). With the ordinary tegretol I had
to be more careful with what time of day I took my pills, but with
controlled release it isn't as important. I can take them a few hours later
than I'm meant to, but it doesn't effect the blood levels very much, since
it's slow release and gives a more regulated blood level. It's the same with
depakin chrono I guess. Just makes life a little less complicated. They're
also easier to swallow with a smooth coating than just dry tablets. Handy
when you take a handful at a time.
