There are times when I wish to address a subject here without being put in a position of having to reply to a prior entry. Does anyone know the means of accomplishing such an endeavor? Thanks. On Windows XP, I just click on File, New message while I'm reading the Group, and it opens waiting for me to give it a Subject, and the text entry. When done I click File, Send? (I do it so automatically now I don't even remember what's there), and it does a speelcheck if I have that set and the message goes out. I usually appears on the group in under 2 minutes. The second one is "Reply Group" which posts your reply on the group. The third one is "Reply" which sends an e-mail reply to the poster.  SignatureDave ???? Your wit is appreciated. > Tim You're saying that you like the way the subject (subject header) is named so well that you want to use it and don't want to start your own thread with your own subject header, which is the way that it normally would be done. It's not normally done this way, but in the total scheme of things here it shouldn't cause any great harm. Simply "reply" to an existing message and delete the text portion that you would normally be replying to. You can even delete the "Re:" from the subject header of your reply if you insist. Is that what you mean? and maybe that nasty censor that was killing your posts won't even notice. Bob Thanks Bob - as you have probably gathered, my ambition is to be as normal as possible. However, in another instance, I may wish to address the subject "Functional Mechanics of alt.support.epilepsy" is a manner that is not in reply to what someone else has entered. For instance, I may wish to make a suggestion that there be the ability to print out the whole thread without an endless series of copying and pasting. I would like to propose a thread entitled "Epileptic Hilarity" where the seizure-related funny-times might be catalogued. Like the time I had a grand mal in a gay AA meeting full of unisex types and some jerk used his cell phone to call 911. I was just coming out by the time the stretcher arrived, and disputed quite loudly the contention that I had had a seizure, with some language that will require pre-approval. GR - after my friend has learned some of Patsy's tricks, I can imagine you begging for some of her unspeakable bodily manipulations. I recall you stating that seizures have heightened your tactile senses. I recommend you reduce your meds a few days prior to her visit. Howdy Dave might be able to recommend the fine tuning on that score. And, of course, Darryl will be able to offer some useful direction - with his prior knowledge of the realm of possibility. Bob When I last looked at this newsgroup I was of the understanding that it was for the support of people with Epilepsy and the support for their family and loved ones. I do not believe that what I am good at and what I am not should come into play. For the record Darryl is now of the understanding that nothing like that should be typed about me again and I would like you also Tim to understand that I never want to be spoken about like that again. I asked a simple question to you before and I am sorry if it offended you. It was meant with a little humour, but what you have written below goes beyond a little humour and in fact is a little insulting. I am here myself to out more information about epilepsy so I am able to help Darryl in anyway I can. I don't know a heck of a lot about Epilepsy and I have no idea what to do with Darryl if for some reason one day he decided to have a gran mal. I am here because I love him and want to help him and try and understand what I can do to make things easier on him. Tim my friend, my buddy, my brother, my best pal, you better believe my wife knows what hands are for. She has a few multiple simultaneous functions of her own. As far as jealousy goes, I've had the jealousy part of my frontal lobe removed, so that's never been a problem ;-) |
