Hi group,

A friend of mine had her first seizure last month & she recently moved
to Atlanta with her husband & doesn't know anyone there very well yet.
She, of course, won't be able to drive for several months.

Has anyone had experience with or can anyone recommend some kind of
driving service to help her run errands while her husband is at work?
(They live out in the suburbs so MARTA/mass transit really isn't
feasible.)

They have a little 3 year old & she & her husband are worried that she
might have another seizure while it's just her & their child at home.
Can anyone suggest a good way to find househelp, who could also drive
her around as needed?
Any suggestions?

Many thanks,
Melissa

Howdy!

How about the neighbors, somebody from church, friend...?

Here in Rochester the transit service has a program called "Lift Line." If
you qualify, it will take you door to door (my epilepsy qualifies me.) The
only problem is/problems are: it costs a lot more than a bus ride  and you
have to make a reservation about a month in advance.  OK for doctors
appointments, weekly shopping and the like, but it's worthless for spur of
the moment tasks or anything that is planned less than 4 weeks in advance.

Hi Mellisa, welcome to our group.  I assume you are referring to Atlanta,
Georgia.  You might get answers by contacting the Epilepsy Foundation in
Atlanta.
