Hi,
I've got a problem. I have an epilepsy since I was born. For 11 years
I've been on clonazepan (0,5mg/day). My previous Doc told me that I
can be pregnant on this drugs. 5 years ago I become pregnant but I was
forced to chnge the doctor. The Doc told me that I was stupid that
this medicine can killl by baby but there is no possibility to change
the drug. I was shocked. 9 months later I gave birth to a helthy
young boy :).
I would like to have a second baby now. My doc said that I HAVE to
change my medicine. I am on Lamictal now (300mg/day) and I fill awful.
My doc told me that I can get pregnant when I will be on 200mg/day. I
do not know what to do. In my opinion I can't stay on Lamictal. As my
doc said I can't have baby on clonazepam. Are there any other
solution?

Hi
I am looking into pregnancy too.
i am on lamotrigine 150mg and frisium10mg and tegretol 800mg. They said the
most important to come off was tegretol, then frisium as i had been on for
years it was just like a valium. I was told that as lamotigine was one of
the newer drugs about 14 years old it was safer.
The National Epilepsy Soceity should be able to offer more help. Good luck.

Hello EwaSek, the Epilepsy Foundation of America has information about
planning a family. Here is one article
http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/programs/wei/familyplanning.cfm
You can go to http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org and key in pregnancy in
the search box, you will find other resources.
I have epilepsy and have two grown sons. Many women with epilepsy have
very healthy babies, but there are risks with some medications, as the
article points out.
Take care,

I know this is a little late.
I have 3 sons that I had while on Tegretol. I am still on Tegretol while
nursing my 9 month old. I was told Tegretol was one of the safer drugs but
there are always risks. I went for several ultrasounds to make sure they
were all healthy. My second son had problems when he was born and in ICU but
I was told it didn't have to do with the meds.
