Hey,
I have already 10 year epilepsy. I have partial complex epilepsy. At the
moment I take the medicaments Gabitril 30 mg/day and Tegretol 900 mg/day.
But my situation is not getting better. Is there someone who also take
these medicaments? And say how manny he/she takes a day?

Hi. Welcome to our neighbourhood. When we get some More people with
Complex Partial Seizures, we're going to stage 'a coupe'(?) and elect a new
president for the group!! :-)
There are quite a few of us with various types of Complex Partial
Seizures (Try that name if you do any Searches of http://efa.org (Ep.
Foundation of America) or Other Sites.
Mine is specifically (right) Temporal Lobe based, but the Temporal Lobe
types of seizures were grouped with C.P. Seizures some time ago. Older
articles though still have some articles listed under Temporal Lobe
seizures -- you could also try Search THAT to see if there's anything of
help to you.
I use Tegretol Controlled Release (Carbamazepine CR in North America).
It's similar to Tegretol Retard or Tegretol XR in some other countries,
except my CR version is Solid Orange tablet (200mg) while some use a plastic
hollow tube to carry a powder.
At Highest Level, I used 400mg each Morning and 400mg each Night. When
I had more seizures (1996/7) my Doctor reduced the Night dose to 0 and
added Frisium (Clobazam) 5mg (half a tablet), then total 10mg (1 tablet).
About 6 months later I had more seizures and we added the Frisium 5mg, then
10 also, WITH the morning Tegretol 400mg Above.
Last C.P. seizure I had was June 1998. They may just need a slight
(new) adjustment to the pill balance you use to get control for you. I
hope they're able to. Once you get a balance, it's SO neat!
(Earlier I posted that *alcohol and *grapefruit Juices interfere with
Working of Tegretol. IF you use either of those those can cause some
seizures that would stop if you avoided those to see.) G.R.
We have **lots of other people here using Tegretol. They might have some
ideas over next 2 days too.

G'day kurt,
i'm on 1600mg of tegretol per day and i also take 400mg of lamictal and i
find that this combo works well for me. maybe you may have to talk to a
neurologist about making some changes to your meds. changing your meds is no
small decision but anything which improves your situation at all has got to
be better.

I also am on tegretol 800 a day and 150 lamotrigine and frisium 10 a day.
Works well for me. Its sometimes is not just one drug that controls but the
combinatioon of drugs. Lamotrigine was the one though that made the
difference to me.
