Greetings,

I apologise if this one has been asked before;

I am considering brain surgery as a treatment for my uncontrolled complex
partials. Can anyone pass on their experiences or knowledge relating to the
removal of some or all of the right temporal lobe ? Any information would be
greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rob

Ron,
I had right temporal lobe surgery 5.5 years ago treating my complex partial.
The severity and frequency of my seizures have decreased although have not
gone completely. I am still on medication and normally I don't get any more
seizures. However there are things that trigger seizures. It is anxiety,
stomach sickness.

I did not regret the surgery as no medication was able to control my
seizures. I am aware that with time seizures can reoccure, but for now I am
ok.

God bless you with your surgery.

I had right temporal lobe surgery 3yrs ago. After trying various meds with no
success,my neurologist recommended surgery as the next option.I still have
seizures, but not as many as before surgery.

I wasn't in a great deal of pain from surgery.I had the odd headache in the
first few days after, but they settled down.I am not too concerned about the
seizures returning because I feel if I didn't go ahead with the operation,I
would probably be worse off than before. If I knocked surgery back,I could
have lived the rest of my life not knowing if I had a chance of feeling
better.
                                     All the best....Brett

Don't apologise. Your situation is unique to you so it can't
have been asked before.
