My husband & I are having to decide whether or not to have our 16 year old son have Vagus Nerve Stimulator implanted.
He has Progressive Myoclonic Epilepsy and has the mental capacity of about a 2 year old (in most areas.)  He has seizures off and on throughout the day some lasting several minutes followed by long periods of sleep. We are wanting to talk to someone who has had this done and parents whose children have had it. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You should check out the Cyberonics website at www.cyberonics.com or
and also WebMD has a VNS site up on their website at www.webmd.com.
VNS has exremely helped me out. My seizures have decreased
tremendously--and I feel like I have more control over what is
happening. I definitely recommend it for anyone with epilepsy who has
bad seizures.  Check those websites out and if you have any questions,
I'd be happy to help you out!
