Hi. I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but it seems the most
relevant place to ask a question... so firstly, apologies if it isn't.
The question is basically about an experience I had - last night, I went out to
a bar, without having eaten a proper lunch or a meal that evening because I'd
been on a course. I (stupidly) drank a lot of alcohol and was feeling it's
effects. I got back to my friend's and slept on a futon on the floor a few
inches from a very hot radiator that was burning to touch. I felt extremely
thirsty but as I felt lethargic also I didn't go and get a drink. When I woke
up in the morning the only thing I could think was I'd never been that hot in
my life (I had heat exhaustion in Aus so I've been pretty hot!). I got up and
felt the blood rush to my head and felt faint, my head felt 5 times it's
weight, so I went to the bathroom and started washing my face, splashing cold
water on it. Then I felt suddenly awful, head was spinning and realised I was
going to faint, picked up my stuff but couldnt hold my body up and crashed into
the side of the door, from what I remember, and falling onto the floor face
first hitting my forehead, and after that my body went out of control, shaking
uncontrollable -mainly my legs for what seemed like maybe 1 or 2 seconds then I
don't know what, I found myself on the floor again and after trying to realise
what the hll was going on, managed to get as fast as I could to lay down on a
bed, felt scared. I have bruises all over from this but that isn't my point. My
point is (and sorry, I didnt mean this to be so long winded), I dont understand
what happened, whether it was the extreme heat, dehydration or something from
the alcohol, maybe even someone somehow put something in my drink (?) but it's
scared the crp out of me as it was absolutely horrible. I'm in good health
(compete- track) etc etc but this has really shook me up and now every time
this afternoon my head feels weird I'm scared it is going to happen again. I
would be really appreciative if anyone could give me any help on this, could it
have been a fit or was i just unwell???? sorry for the long post and i hope
youre all having a good (better day than) me laura

It does sound like a seizure of sorts, but it should be pointed out that having a
seizure doesn't mean that you have epilepsy. Seizures can have many causes and the
situation you described with the alcohol etc was the likely cause.
Give yourself time to recover from your hangover & current poor feeling. Become
concerned only if you have another seizure without any obvious cause such as the
current one had. If it does, then be certain to see a doctor, but just get well
right now. :-)

Howdy!
Have to agree on this one...
SEE A DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A web group is no place to get a diagnosis of what is clearly a medical
problem.

Hi,
Thank you 3 for your replies. Yep, I know it probably wasn't the best
place to ask the question (the internet), but I was worried by it and
just asked in the first place I thought of! I feel fine now, have had
no repeat and I think more than anything it was down to the extreme
heat I managed to lay next to for hours on end.
Thanks again,
Laura
