Mike Smith - 10 Jul 2003 00:18 GMT From about 1991-1999 I was one of the heaviest posters and researchers to this newsgroup. After 1999 my EP was well under control and my interest faultered and I didn't feel apart anymore.
I had a major attack in 2002 which after 7 years clear I figured was some odd break thru and recently I have had 5 attacks in a row, so I am reexaming things again.
I take Epilim (Depakote) 2400mg and have done for 14 years.

gaross - 10 Jul 2003 02:01 GMT That's crumby (New re-occurring seizures). Lisa (Butts) used to describe her's as a Younger Sibling, she has to take wherever she goes, and never know if today's the day that they'll act up.... I've been fairly yappy around here, and able to post fairly often since I appear to be Under Control (well, wrt Seizures anyway! :-< ). While I had a **long period where I had just accepted that I would have a Random event -- a Full Complex Partial /Emerg. Thing or a Minor Lie Down, both without ANY Warning at all... Now I have a set of pills that controls my szrs., I've just taken for granted that (so far) I'll *Never have another seizure. The Auras I get, when I get them, are Teenie mild little things -- a dizzy feeling like you just got off a rotating swing, or minor 'breeze' that's not there, but Nothing like the 'Grab that Wall and Please don't lose consciousness/Bladder control in the middle of this Mall before I meet the others for lunch' ... type of Aura. Those LATTER ones were the Scariest and most IRRITATING!! :-< since they would sneak up, one moment everything seemed Fine, then SOMETHING would happen to trigger onset -- Lemon Cleaner in a Shopping Centre Floorwash, Vinegar Burning on the grill as you line up for a Table at the restaurant (one of the 'Boutiquie (SP?) ones, where you watch the Cook torch someone Else's meal while you're waiting for a Table). Just what you need when you're Hungry, watch what someone ordered who got here 30 minutes ago !!...
A Loud argument, crying child, or Car horns following an accident, triggering an Aura. Do you go see if you can Help? there are others there already, and if you Try and have a Seizure, you'll be in the WAY more than you'll HELP... But NOW you'll be in a Brain Fog for 30-90 minutes, but you're used to these now. They've happened for 4 years now, this is the 'New Normal' now, .... or is it? You never know. It wasn't for me.
(I haven't used Depakote, but lots of posters around here have. If they're not on Early Vacations, you should get some 'useful' answers over next few days.) G.R.

That is a nightmare. I take nothing for granted when it comes to epilepsy, but seven years should earn you a little relief.

Stress is what really gets me now. I've been performing for 13 years without epilepsy interrupting; I've been the poster child. This past weekend I had to run off stage because of a seizure. Luckily it wasn't a huge one. Oh well.

> Mike > [quoted text clipped - 15 lines] > > > > Mike Smith gaross - 11 Jul 2003 16:14 GMT It's nice to see you back. I was going to mention Another band leader, but Mark (below)might be watching -- shook him up a few days ago when I threw in a "Y..." performer from Europe, and he might still be drinking his morning coffee... (I guess he doesn't like that kind of music, Or maybe it's Y*nni's Longer hair, not sure. [Put down your Coffee Cup Mark] *I* couldn't wear hair that long, altho' Tiny Tim did. ) *******
Do you know if you were more affected by Lights and things that a lot of concerts you perform at might have, or more the stress of performing in front of a large crowd? I can't even imagine how you DO that!! I go to a social event 2x a year where there are ~200 strangers and people I know, and found that I get auras from either the heat of crowd mingling, or from the growing number of strangers who are wandering about (it's a retired people's group, so there are regulars I recognize but often newer people each time too).
I couldn't determine if more of my Stress was being in the midst of Strangers, or the heat and size of the crowd so enclosed. I don't seem to be affected (much) in larger shopping centres, but there the crowds are more dispersed over a large area. (June was 5 years since my last Complex Partial (Temporal Lobe) szr. -- controlled by pills.) G./

Although my arms and shoulders are hurting mucho, which seems par for this course. Oh well, the oxycodone should kick in in about a half hour. (That PT is a Sadist, but she IS a cute, olive skinned Italian, WOW)
Shut up Tom, get to your point. I have learned quite a bit from you folks and am grateful. "G", you mentioned stress and lights, and said to myself "Self, yeah maybe that's partly when it happens. Thank you one and all. Now if I can learn why my bones seem to be disintegrating at a relatively high speed, then I'll choke a doctor or two. It won't do much damage, I can't even open a bottle of soda.
Oh, by the way, welcome back Mike, although it sucks that your back here.
Stay vertical, Tom
P.S. G you weren't referring to Yanni were you? Mark, at could have been worse, he could have mentioned Zamfir - Master of the Pan Flute!
gaross - 12 Jul 2003 13:27 GMT I forgot about Zamfir!!! Too bad HE didn't get a chance to record with Tiny Tim when the latter was alive --> OOooo tip toe thru the Pan Flutes... Strawberry fields forever ...
wrt. Bottom Tom's self meandering--> Can you post some more detail of what you were wondering at Bottom (***s) when you wondered about Bones disintegrating near end? Was that just olde age? Or are you having some Nocturnal seizures or ?? that might make you grind teeth in night? or is the disintegrating bone stuff about something your Doctor commented on? (SOME people take various vitamin supplements or more Healthy food than the rest of us, and they might have some comments if they saw what that meant.) If it was about Tegretol and Bones or Teeth or ?? I might have some other stuff that I posted a few months ago about protecting teeth at night, etc. and some people who might be prone to Tegretol and some AEDs attacking Calcium levels in their systems (so the need for Vitamin supplement). G.R.

Mark, at could have > > been worse, he could have mentioned Zamfir - Master of the Pan Flute! I have a condition called Avascular Necrosis or Osteonecrosis, where the bones in the joints die. http://www.osteonecrosis.org/nofbrochure/nonf-brochure.htm It has been diagnosed and verified by MRI in my knees. Wanna see the scans? After my brain surgery, I was put on heavy doses of steroids for 6 months. My Ortho has been working on my shoulders and I sense the progression of arthritis in both hands and a "twinge?" in my left hip.

mark stamey - 13 Jul 2003 00:58 GMT Zanfir!!!!!!!!
Where is he?
I know he is around here someplace I can smell the crap in his teeth!!!!!
I'll give him something to blow if him ever posts around this news group. Forget about driving - that idiot will be skidding up the road on its pan pipes.
Yanni. Zamfir. What are you stinking Spazzes trying to do to me? Give me a heart attack to go with my head attack?
That epilepsy get to you. You better go find rude John and get some of his blend and smoke it in the kind of pipe he uses. It "Makes your brain Hum."
You are a sick bunch of epileptics. No wonder the docrors want to cut out your brains before it it too late.
NOTICE TO DOCTORS:
It's too late. Don't bother cutting their brains out. Try shooting them in the head and if that doesn't work drive a wooden stake in their hearts, Tell the police I said they were vampires. It will be OK.
Yanni. Zamfir.
What's next? The HARMONICATS?
Just because you are a brain damaged idiot doesn't mean you have to act like one.
Find methadone clinic and beg them to let you in.

Even if only by a tranny who stands along the highway in the morning waving a flaccid member at passing school buses. Although you probably should give it a rest. That sort of thing is only funny on Easter and Christmas.

It's MY methadone and YOU can't HAVE any!!!
Rune aka RedJohn aka RudeJohn aka all sorts of silly things but at least I'm not a spazoidal gender-confused pre-op with huge man boobs like SOME people I know. MARK. :-)

So far as I know, he dresses like most men I know. If you have access to a history file on this ng. we discussed Employment issues or PWE and his work with a New York Newspaper about last May?
The Yanni vs. Zamfir thread started as a humourous exchange late one night about how people might use music to relax and unwind, as opposed to the former 'Chocolate should be recognized as part of the official Foodgroups' thread from last year. Apparently not everyone likes the same music to unwind to. "You can't always get what you want" they say, some people can't even 'get no satisfaction', but when it came to seizures, we earlier were discussing 'how does it feel', before we got off 'on a cloud' ..... I am now back on epilim chrono, to stop this hopefully? (when I was on it previously I didn't have gm seizures, but tiredness and weight-gain), which I will now trade for improved seizure control.
Best of luck to all.
