I just reached into the pill drawer to take the PM ones and found I missed
the AM dose.  I have a reminder in Outlook and Yahoo set up, but I wasn't on
the computer today until a half hour ago.  The last time this happened, I
had a seizure.  sh.t.  Thanks for listening

I keep a *paper log with date, blank columns for AM and PM doses,
plus a 7-day Pill Case I got (free?) at my Pharmacy.  I fill the
week's dose except for one 'door' I leave up, and when I take the AM
dose I write the *time in the paper column, same at night.  That door
then stays open.  After about 4-5 days I reload all the empty days
except one (so I know which day it is without having to look that up :-
< ).
Another advantage of the 7-day pill case, is I know a week in
advance when I'll run out of pills and need to phone my pharmacy for
repeats on the 2 pill types I take, and it's more portable if I'm
going somewhere for less than a week.
(If I travel through customs or airlines etc. I take prescription
bottles to show the pills are a valid prescription made out to me.)
The Ep. Foundation site has a Pill Glossary if you didn't get a
printout from the pharmacy when the prescription was filled.  Both
mine say what to do if I miss any doses (Tegretol says to take the
next dose when needed, and *not to double up to try catch up-- it's
better to then follow the rates that were in place (for me) from that
point on).

U.S. Ep. Foundation website is  http://efa.org  , click down
medications, and type in name and 'go'? or scroll to the pill name.
There's a print option somewhere there too.
I just got in the habit as I know before breakfast to take the
pills w. juice, and at night when I finish the TV news or log off
here, to check my 'log page' to see if there's a time filled in for
e.g. Sun. night's dose, and the Sunday door is up, showing that dose
was taken.      G./.

I have a similar box that I use to keep me in line with my meds. I have meds
that I take six times a day so it is easy to get confused and behind. Plus I
will forget what I have taken and sometimes that's not such a good thing
with some of mine. I have not found that missing a single dose necessarily
makes me more prone to seizures. I have just started two new meds and will
wean off the old one in a month. We will see how that goes.

If you completely miss a dose though, it should not be taken just go to the
next dose. It's a challenge for me sometimes because my short-term medicine
seems to be more and more effected lately. Luckily the pill box and a
husband who pays attention keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hope missing a dose isn't too traumatic.

Like many of the other posters I keep a daily pill box that is filled
at the end of each day before going to sleep.  If anything is left at
the end of the day I know I've missed a dose.

I didn't have the seizure. I took some lorazepam Sunday night.  That might
have helped.

I did that when I went on a vacation a year ago.  I was also with my
sister and her grandkids and didn't get enough sleep.  So combine the
noise, the bad sleep, forgetting the meds and yes, it wasn't good.
Maybe if you make sure you rest and take it easy today that will help.

Take care,
Julie
