Hi. My daughter has a really mild case of halo. That's all I know about the
word. I can't remember the rest of it.
She was having 20-30 seizures a day, where her head would go back and she
would kinda stumble backwards.
She was diagnosed with complex partial seizures, and seems to be doing
better with the new meds that she is taking. She only has them when she is
napping or when she goes to sleep at night. I really don't know what to do
except pray and worry. Please respond with ways to help cope or if you've
experienced the same ordeal.
Thanks,
Chad

If you list the name of the medication someone might have
informaiton or experience with it. Some medications that work for
children might not work for adults so an approximate dosage might help
too, in case someone has used it.
I had thought that most Complex partial seizure led to loss of
consciousness unless they were controlled, though that might be more
specific to adults. If if she were having strong szrs. she'd not be
aware of what had happened when she came out of them.
(I've never seen the term 'halo' used here wrt. any seizure type
since 1997, so wondered if it's part of another seizure type ? )
I did an older post about 3? weeks ago with subject link like
'Websites of use to newer people' that about 3 other people added
their own sites they had found. If you can see that post on a search
back through the history of this newsgroup there might be some sites
of use there. Either the First AId for seizures site and the
Medications Glossary site would be first 2 of use probably.
If you can be more specific about the seizure perhaps people with
kids reading the group might have more links or information.
Also this is an international group and when it was most active
the regulaars might only read it each 2-3 days, and the timezones will
take that long for your message to be seen if they have a reply for
you.
Hopefully someone can help. Several of us (more than 8) have
Complex Partial seizures if those are really what she's having. Many
of us seem to have later onset type though, than childhood onset. G./

Hi, my daughter was diagnosed with complex partial seizures starting
at age 10 months. She did not get them controlled by medication and
would seize about every other week. We tried diet and nutrition and
found that seizures slowed down to about one every 1 - 3 months. We
discovered that red dye number 40, casein, nitrates, and MSG could
have triggered her seizures. We researched other treatments and found
Emotional Freedom Technique. We tried that for a month with no
seizures in addition to the diet. Then, we started neurotherapy
treatment. Since we started neurotherapy she has had two seizures in
a year and a half, the last one was 9 months ago. We still have more
therapy needed because her QEEG shows some sharp and slow waves so we
will get to work on those shortly. Our daughter is still on medicine,
tegretol, but we hope to lower the dosage and eventually take her off
of the medicine. We are seeing Dr Walker from the Neurotherapy Center
of Dallas. I hope this helps...please let me know if you need any
more information. Regards, Barry
