Hi Paula, nice to meet you and welcome to the newsgroup!
Just wanted to say I loved your blog, as you're right it really is very
hard to open up to anybody unless you actually knew them closely!
Even now I'm sure hubby finds me a burden as my 24 hr babysitter - I
mean who gets the stick if I pea whilst having a seizure, or makes me
stay at home on my own whilst he does the shopping by himself as it
makes him look like a wife basher if I'm seen with bruises on one side
of my face after having another seizure! :-(
It simply strengthe's your argument that other people find us as an
embarrassment - and frightened that we will also make them look like an
embarrassment, whether they're madly in love with us or not.
It's probably why as you mentioned, we just agree to take our mother's
advice, and not to tell others about our condition, as we don't really
think they'll understand or treat us with much respect. I found one
person who loved me and ignored my epilepsy... I married him!
