I am a 44 y/o male, anglo-Cherokee mix.. I have, recently, experienced
serval tonic-clonics, according to my sisters, lasting only about
thirty seconds..
I have had partial seizures most of myu adult life and I can't
attribute any injury or event to cause my seizures..
I had a tonic-clonic yesterday and my tongue is mangled.. I feel
run-down and sore all over..
Last March I nearly killed myself in a bad accident when I had a
seizure in my car.. I was in the hospital for nealy a month.. These
seizures have increased in frequency only this year.. Have you had
this same problem??? I am on Dilantin, Neurotin and Cabamazepine
(Tegretol) Have you experienced any increase in seizures as you get
older???
Thanks so much

Gerald

Hi Gerald, my seizures have lessened, but my life style has changed.  I
work for myself so I have more control over what I do.  If I feel like I
need to rest, I do.

Take care,
Julie

There's an interesting article about age-related changes to the nervous
system (including the brain) at
<http://health.yahoo.com/health/encyclopedia/004023/0.html>.  This article
doesn't directly answer your question though.

I don't know if hormone changes can provoke seizures in men like they can
in some women.  Hormones fluctuations were definitely associated with my
seizure activity (I have complex partial seizures).
