Hi i've had these happen to me mostly while drifting off to sleep and
not beeing asleep very long.

within a few hours. I also suffer from panic attacks but will get to
that later.

I usually awake to feel this strange overwhelming sensation emenating
from  my head. It's so crippling it easily makes me want to go into
the fetal position.. it's very hard to describe but i'll try my best.

It's as if my brain is at war with itself, it feels like its splitting
off into infinite directions, going every which way and is just the
most tremendous feeling I have ever felt and I will semi voluntarily
shake my head and hands as if I were trying to shake this horrible
feeling from my head/off of me this is me more trying to shake this
intenly crippling feeling.. It's a mixture of fear, extreme fear and
just an overwhelming sensation that is so ridiculous and weird i can't
even begin to put into words.. I can't even begin to explain... . I do
not lose conciousness and am aware of my surroundings and remember and
can respond to questions and can even walk perform a task like reach
for my medicine open a drink to take it. It is so overwhelming that it
literally brings me to a hault.
lastas about 30mins i do barf most usually during or after after it
happens because it is so fightining a feeling and sickening.

The reason I ask is because i've read not all seizures make you thrash
about or lose conciousness. As I thought before without reading up a
little on them.

I'm 25 and have had them happen very frequently 10-14 times through
out my entire life BEFORE i was put on xanax/alprazolam, you may ask
what this has to do with anything well the reason I wonder if it's a
type of seizure or this aura i read about is because well xanax
withdrawal etc can cause seizures and i've been weening very strongly
off them and this has happened to me a lot more frequently in the past
6 years i've been on the med. Another reason I ask is because well
last two times in the past year i've experienced it again and when
taking the xanax instantly and them kicking in this all subsides and i
fall off into a VERY deep sleep and awake still feeling very a tiny
bit odd and muscles are sore.. my mother has witnessed this and it is
so infrequent that i couldnt just be rushed to the hospital in time..
and since it's happened before very very rarely over my entire life
i've never thought it to be serious enough.

She has witnessed me breakdown and shake my head and hands trying to
shake this disgusting feeling like my brain is majorly out of sync and
is dvided, detached just extremely weird and haulting beyond belief.

Anyways i've never once awoken with this problem while taking proper
dosages of my meds. *knock on wood*

I still don't feel that i'm explaining it right but it's the best i
can seem to word it....

i've rode them out before in the past maybe happening atleast only 1
our of a few years and 10-14 times my entire life and maybe i sleep
through them i don't know but as i said

after taking the alprazolam when it kicks in the feeling subsides
slowly and i fall off into a very deep sleep my mother has watched
over one time this happened and i never thrashed around or any
unregular movements after falling asleep.

It's even hard to describe to my doc and he doesn't know of the
weening.. that's another story. BUT since i've tried weening from such
a hi dosage of 6 years beeing on them i've noticed them more FREQUENT
than over the period of my life before i got on them/xanax.

It's nothing like a panic attack either.. those i get regular during
the day if i dont take my meds this is a whole other sensation seeming
to be linked to my body and sleep.

BTW I also suffer from coat's disease which i've had laser surgery and
cryo-surgery for as well as the removal of my adnoids and suffer from
sever allergies and am allergic to dust mites. So i've had a few
surgeries throughout my lifetime. age 25

*****  If you mean that that Sensation passed *instantly after taking
the pill, there are very Few pills where that will happen. Most Anti
Ep Pills for example don't reach Liver or Kidneys for 3-5 hours after
I've taken them. They also depend on a fixed dose taken Every day and
same time, and Mine shouldn't be stopped abruptly or Missed, as that
can produce strong side effects (for me) also.  /

G.  I don't recognize any of above meds. as Anti Ep. related
medications, though they still could be, as most are targeted to
particular areas where a szr. or other conditions might start from.
You could look at Simple Partial seizures (usually called an Aura
on some sites).   The U.S. ep. foundation should have a discription
at  http://efa.org   OR I just listed on a reply to someone else about
a post I did several weeks (months?) ago that listed another ~5
sites.  Most of those are more specific to topics once a szr. type (of
5-6) are identified or related to pills used to treat the various
szrs.  as newer pills are targeted to particular areas of  brain where
the szrs. start.
Did you try a Separate search on the Pills you* use, or on the
Manufacturer's website to see what the pills are used for?   Usually
the printout I get on first filling of my pills lists common uses of
the pills and how to use them, etc.    *Many of the anti-ep pills (for
one)  depend on a fixed rate and dosage and not missing pills.
Your's could be similar in that regard.   If there's not a www site on
any pills you get, your pharmacy should be able to give you one if you
phone them.   G./
