Hi,
looking for some common sense guidelines. I have a new colleague who today
had an episode about 1 minute long, where he suddenly stopped walking (we
were leaving a restaurant after lunch), did not react to anything (being
asked if he was OK, gentle touch on the shoulder), staring into space, no
emotions showing. He did walk a few steps during this time, then stopped
again.
Then suddenly he was OK again. After a few minutes walk and chat, I asked
what had happened and explained he had completely "blanked out". He says
he's fine, so either he doesn't know it happened (and thinks I'm mad) or he
knows it happens and doesn't want to talk about it. No problem.
Now this seems to fit the absence seizure description. I'm not trying to
diagnose - but would like some guidance. If it is absent seizure, and
happens again, is there anything I should or should not do? I'm guessing I
just stay with him and wait until he re-joins the world?
Thanks, Heckenhocker

I think you've made a good call and you handled it perfectly. As long as the
events remain as short in duration as you've described, there is less cause for
concern. Do stay withh him in any case and perhaps he will someday fill you in.
