Hi New to this site looking for information.

My wife has complex partial seizure epilepsy she has been on keppra for over
a year now on a dosage of 500mg per day.

Recentley she started to have frequent seizures so as a result our
consultant increased the medication and she now is on 2000mg per day which
seems to have had an effect but she is now having considerable problems with
severe headaches.

Consultant hard to get hold of as we are having to go private.  Local GP
seen as pain extreme he prescribed new medication of 750mg Keppra twice per
day and also 200mg Tegrtol retard reluctant to change to this on GPs
reccomendation should we wait to see specialist and has anyone else had this
extreme headache stabbing pain in right eye and side of face?

Need some help wfie climbing wall.

Hi

My wife's been on Tegretol Retard now for 16 years.  Apart from some
drowsiness above 600mg/day, it's been good.
We have been recommended to move to Keppra now our family has been born
(Specialist suggested that
Tegretol Retard was sensible before family as it is well tried & tested).

Not tried the Keppra yet, but probably will soon.

Note:  We find via the grapevine that we should avoid grapefruit with the
Tegretol - (try internet search), although nothing mentioned from official
sources!

Hey there

i am trying to work out which medication is better for me at the moment. i
am on 1200mg tegretol / day but had severe side effects: aggression,
depression, impotance where the main problems. my neuro has put me on 1500mg
keppra to try and get me off the tegretol, but now take 150mg / day of
zoloft to combat it all. i have been a few medications over the past 4
years, avg 1 new one each year. it has driven me up the wall, my friends as
well, and my parents to the point where my mum cannot handle it, that is the
epilepsy and the side effects.

my biggest mistake was that i changed neuro's because i wasn' happy with the
old one. my new one changed my medication (at the time i was on lamitical
and epilim) without any talking to. now i have a huge mess and no family to
help me out. make sure that you talk to your family first before, and at
your doc, then again afterwards. i didn't and now i am struggling

http://www.google.com/  Scroll to the search window, type 'tegretol and
grapefruit' without the 's, click on Google Search.   It should bring up
about 30 posts, although some might be incidental ones like mine from 2-3
months ago.  One that was pulled down was from Harvard edu
