Anyone having trouble with Topamax?

Is anyone having trouble with Topamax not working for them? I cannot get my
seizures under control using a combination of Topamax and Mysoline. I am
about to tell my DR it is time to try something different. After more than
two years and still nothing is any better I think it is time to do something
different. I am still having grandmal seizures about every 4 weeks and this
hasn't changed. I hope to God that it is something that I don't have to live
with the rest of my adult life. I have been completely under control before
and I believe we can get there again but not with these meds.

It sounds like a good idea (talking to the Doctor).  You can get
information (if you don't already have it) on Topamax and Mysoline
sometimes from the Pharmacy that gives you the pills (if they didn't
give you a printout already),  but if they've stopped working, you
*might just need, e.g. a half pill change to get control back.
I take different pills (Tegretol and Frisium), but before I got
full control, when I had 2-3 seizures my Neuro would add half a tablet
to the morning dose, or a half at night.  Last dose change I needed
was about 1997 (from 1993 onset). So I *hope mine stays like that.. :-
<  but it was very frustrating those 4 years as I seemed to just start
to feel like I was 'fixed'  and another szr. would happen.  It took a
while, and 3 pills to try before I got to above 2 I use, but some
people who posted here in late 1990s were not controlled and *they had
been trying different pills for more than 10 years....   I guess I was
lucky.
There wasn't anything happening different when you had the later
loss of control?  (that's what the Dr. might ask anyway).    *I found
out that 1) Alcohol messed up my Tegretol control,  then Later 2) (I
think *here)  that Grapefruit Juice messes it up too !!   Other juices
don't but one of the acids in Grapefruit messes with the Tegretol. I
used that juice so rarely I'd have never related the 2 together
(seizures and the juice 12 hours before).
Maybe some of the other olde timers are still around and might
have some other ideas.  G./
