Hello there

I'm new to this group and don't know if you can help but I have been
directed here and hope that it might help.  Here's what's up:

I have now had a few attacks involving a sort of cycle between visual
and then cognitive agnosia (lack of understanding I suppose), a number
of random visual hallucinations, and some loss of speech, all of which
happen on top of one another and sort of rotate every few seconds or
so.  Most events are preceded by a sort of aura, a sense of wrongness
and emotionality which is much higher and faster than my normal
anxiety, and these last anything from 10 or so hours to about an hour.
The attacks seem to last about 2 - 3 hours, maybe a little more.

There is a suspicion in me and some doctors that this could be temporal

lobe epilepsy and I wondered if this sounded like anyone else's
experience of it.  I am still due to get tests like EEG and others to
confirm.

Thanks in advance :)

*** I don't recognize above symptoms wrt. ones I had.  Temporal Lobe
Seizures are now included on most newer sites within Complex Partial
Seizures. The Auras (described next) can be included there, but also
within Simple Partial seizures.  If you do any searches you could try
look for those titles and see if any symptoms match what you
experience. (If you're not losing consciousness at the conclusion, most
of what you might want would be grouped under Simple Partial seizures,
which are the Aura part, and then passes.)

Do you get any Aura that includes Senses of Taste or Aroma that
aren't there?  (Lemon/ sour, or Eggy/ Acrid type tastes or aroma) or
Sensations of Deja Vu or Jamais Vu (where you feel you might have said
or done this before, or your own place feels like a stranger's?). The
First of each of those 2 examples (sour, deja), are one of the auras,
*if a Simple Partial seizure were starting in the *right Temporal Lobe,
while the 2nd in each example (acrid/eggy or foul, possibly with jamais
vu) is typical aura starting the the *left Temporal Lobe.
Usually if someone doesn't lose consciousness, the symptoms might
be most closely described under Simple Partial Seizures.

***If they get measurable spikes on the EEG there, that would confirm
if that's where any szrs. might be starting.
Have they prescribed any *medications in the meantime?  If you list
those here, several are specific to a particular szr. type, and might
give others a clue as to which type of szr. your Doctor thinks it is,
and they might have input on their own experiences or comments too.

G.  When my 'new improved' Provider was adding new functions, they
seem to have hidden or removed :-<  the folders I used to keep posts of
use, to Repost here. If you have a link to Google or other search, you
could try Search the group for a Subject like "Websites I found" in the
Subject line or just "Websites" if that fails.   Within it, I list
about 5 sites that include First Aid Charts that Julie provides from
the Idaho Website, and that address too, the Ep. Foundation of America
has a Medications glossary plus other info. -- it's at http://efa.org
, and  2-3 other locations I had found over years (include Howdy Dave's
and some others).

An advantage of finding the last Thread like that, or one before, is
several people here also added Other sites they had used to search for
information on Types of seizures, medications, and Treatments.
Perhaps if one of them has an older archives than this link seems to,
they can post one of those if you can't locate it yourself. Let us know
if you find it.    G./
