Hi, i posted earlier about my daughter Victoria age 5, well we were
talking to the doctor and we finally got a well 24 hr EEG that lasted 3
days lol. and we had thought that Victoria was haveing several pitite
seizures a night around 2-8 a night. they caught them the first night
and couldn't under stand were her attitudes were comeing from. Victoria
without medicine was a loving understandable, interested girl, may i
addshe has no other medical problems, and my child on medicines/ after
medicines too, is a uncontrolable terror that has bad days at school
and cares for no one. Well any way we had taken her off of limictal
after her behavior was poor at school and we kept the behavior
problems. I really didnt want to medicate her again for she has been on
5 different meds in less then a year but the fact is that her behavior
is because lack of sleep, although we think she get a full night of
sleep, the 2-8 seizures a night dont fully wake her but cause her to
wake, Do you know what i mean?, so we need to stop the seizures.... we
put her on "tiripital" sorry misspelt. i dont know how its going to
react with her its only been 3 days.
I would like to know of anyone who has more information or can relate
to have this kind of seizures.
B T W it affects he C3( above the ear on the left side of the frontal
lobe brain)
Sorry for the sloppyness of this letter i am in a hurry.
Thank you much April E.

Hi. I don't have experience with most of those meds. or that type of
seizure location. I *do know though that we all need a certain amount
of 'REM Sleep' (Rapid Eye movement, usually present during dreaming
while we sleep), to relax and rest us properly.
If the types of disruptions she had was disturbing that REM sleep or
preventing her from having it (REM relaxation), she could easily become
a 'Bear' during the daytime, as she hasn't fully rested. It can then
also affect schoolwork and learning since she's not fully rested. I
hope they're better able now to suggest what to do or prescribe
something that will work properly to allow her to get a full night's
sleep.
Keep us posted as several people who have similar symptoms or
children with early onset types of seizures might read here and benefit
from your successes. Good luck with finding something that will work
for her. G./

Hi April E.
I have epilepsy and I am taking the children's dilantin 200mg. two tabs in
the am and two in the pm. I hope that your daughter is feeling much better.
Epilepsy at times is very difficult. One important thing is that a person
with epilepsy needs plently of rest. I have a girlfriend that wants to go all
of the time she never rests. She is not the best friend for me. She takes
medication herself and has not learned what it means to relax and rest. For
me no TV or Phone in my bedroom not a lot going on the in the room. Pretty
blue drapes and a bedspread, beautiful lavendor vase with white flowers. One
big picture on the wall and that it is. This really helps epileptics to
decorate this way. Very calm. The other problem that I am having is that I
have two cats. As of late we have to put them out of our bedroom, because
cats like to play all night long. So that has helped me to sleep and rest and
sleep are very important. Your daughter has been on a lot of medications, I
hope that she gets well. It sure is hard to have epilepsy and it is hard to
be a parent of a child that has it. Interesting my two boys did not get the
epilepsy.
Can your daughter take the children's Dilantin. It is a very old medication
and I have noticed that the new doctors always want to put me on the newer
medications. I just tell the doctors that I have been on this since I have
been 23 and I am now 59. So it has been a long time. The medication works
well.I am sure you know that you do not just go off a seizure medication. It
takes a year to introduce the new and some of the old medication. Because I
have epilepsy, it can make you irritable at times especially if you are not
on the right medication or if you are taking too much. I use to take 300mg.
of dilantin now I take 200mg. I have Grandmal. I hope this may have been some
help. Kathy1
