Hi , my sister had temporal lobe resection 4 months ago. She is
experiencing a variety of psychiatric sysmptoms post surgically.
symptoms include depression, anxiety, irritabiliity, violent and
suicidal tendedancies. I was wondering if any body else has had the
same experience and what treatment if any they received.
thanks mena

Some of the emotional symptoms could be result of electrical
activity in one of the 2 Temporal lobes where short term memory and
parts of the emotions operate.   Have you told the Dr. treating her (or
has someone)?    There might be some minor adjustments needed to her
medications if she's still using some or she might need another one
while she's finishing recovering from the operation.
If she's still having symptoms from that area of the brain many of
the experiences we don't remember when they're finished so we wouldn't
know to tell the Dr. ourselves.  (Someone could write a note for her to
take to the Dr. if you don't live nearby, and if they're not monitoring
her closely or doing any followup tests which would reveal many of the
symptoms.)   Good luck with this and please keep us posted.  Many
people read this board but don't post, but get value from the
experiences we share here.    G./
