About 1/3 to 1/4 of all nights sleep, I do sweat to much, primarily on the
torso, shoulders and neck,
rarely in the armpits.  Daytime sweating is not pronounced.
I have been on with Trileptal / oxcarbazepine since medication start some 2
years ago,
and sweating started some 3 months later, when the dose was raised
succesively.
My dose of Trileptal is 1800 mg/24 hours.
There is a particular non-determinable smell in the sweat,
and on a white sheet, even when dry, there´s still a blotch a litte darker.
Experiences ?

Regards

Only regarding increased sweating and the smell. I've found that I
started sweating noticeably more a few years ago, either from being
exposed to heat, or from physical activity. It all got to a level when
it became a bit embarrassing in some situations. I never noticed
increased sweating at night, though, neither have I been on
Trileptal/oxcarbazepine, but on Tegretol (until -98) and Orfiril (from
then on).
The smell of my sweat has also changed, although I don't think there has
been any change of diet during this period. I would call this smell some
sort of sweetish-smelling vinegar, if anything at all. And it is not my
nostrils playing a trick on me, I can determine a distinct "normal"
smell of sweat from others.
Just thought it was strange that you mention this, because I've been
wondering lately if this change of smell could be caused by the change
of medication. Just a wild shot.

Howdy!

I have always been a profuse sweater.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that the
sudden increase and change in odor may be due
to taking a drug that is excreted from the body
through the skin.

Trileptal appears to be excreted primarily by
means of the kidneys through the urine.

I was taking one drug (I think that it was
either Depakene or Depakote) that was
excreted through the skin and it made me
STINK!!!
