Many people newly experiencing seizures (I did anyway) are
frightened by their onset, and don't understand that the Aura is a
warning that it might generalize (spread across the brain) or become
worse and lead to loss of consciousness. When they are aware that's
'all it is', and the type of aura often suggests, for them and the
Doctor where the seizure starts from (the seizure focus), they can find
more information and help in achieving control.
*That then can empower them to move toward a more positive outcome
for their type, and not retreat into fear they might be 'possessed'
(years ago), or do not have the ability to get help with controlling
the types of seizures they have.
The part I listed with respect to the warnings, could help someone
who had stronger onset seizures, to seek a safe place to lie down or
move away from machinery or areas of danger, before they lose full
awareness. I woke up in Hospital 4-6 times over 2 years before I
realized (or found) that the Deja Vu/ Dizzy sensations, odour of Bleach
or taste of Lemon were all parts of a Right Temporal Lobe Aura, and
happened because that was the area where my seizures started.
If I had sensations or tastes that were different than that, those
can indicate *other areas of the brain where a seizure might start, and
would save them reading much about my Rt. Temporal Lobe (Complex
Partial) type, if their seizures don't start there...
With some seizure types, return to Normal might be relatively quick
(3-5 minutes) after the worst part, while some of our stronger szr.
types can take periods measured in hours to days to return to the 'real
world'.
The strength and sensation of the feeling (Deja Vu for me), over
time, also gives feedback on how close we're getting to full control
with therapies or medications. (I was told to "hope for 3-5 per month"
in 1993. Last aura I had was about 1998....) G./

I agree with G. about the possible usefulness of being able to predict
a seizure. I apologize for having spoken too soon. Oddly, I have
instructed myself to get low when I feel an aura, but I have never
obeyed myself. I say to myself "Oh, I can walk it off", and end up in
the ER with a gash.
I imagine each individual may have somewhat different signs of an
immanent seizure and that it is most important to become attuned to our
own.
My challenge to myself now is to become obedient and get down for a
seizure.
