Hi,
I ve a query regarding health insurance for epileptics. I am an epileptic.

I want to know whether I ll be able to get health insurance in
US, since I ve epilepsy. If so, will epilepsy be covered under
that? In other words, will the insurance company take care of
medicine charges and neurologist's consulting fees.

I am seizure free for morethan 4 years.

would appreciate your help.
thanks,
Balaji

Here is an article from the Epilepsy Foundation regarding health insurance.
http://www.epilepsyfoundation.org/programs/ts2/ts2insurance.cfm

My insurance comes from my husband's employer.  Our insurance pays for
prescription meds.  I have a neurologist who is an epileptologist.
Because he is part of what is called a network, the insurance pays a
very good portion of his fee.  The insurance also pays for testing.  Of
course I had to meet a deductible before the insurance started to pay.
Fortunately my deductible is only $250 per year.  After that I pay a
percentage of hospital service fees.

Take care,
Julie

Howdy Balaji!

In my experience, the chances of getting an independant
policy on your own are slim to remote due to "pre-existing
conditions."

Best bet is to get yourself involved with a group that offers
Group Insurance. Various sources include (but are not limited to):

Church organizations,
Fraternal organizations,
Employers and
Credit Unions.

Howdy Again!

re: "Church organizations"... I'm especially thinking
about INVESTMENT COMPANIES with close church
ties.

If you belong to a denomination that has such ties,
open up a pittance account and you may discover
all sorts of opportunities.

IMO: CREDIT UNIONS are the next best bet!
Here again, it can be a pittance account.
