I really am not sure what to do so I hope somebody here has some helpful
advice (other than see a doctor because I really can't afford it).
I had a pretty bad TC about a week or so ago and as usual, I bit my
tongue. Unfortunately, this time, rather than a few small bites, I somehow
managed to bite it in such a fashion that it made about a two inch long
"slice" in the top of my tongue. Hurt like crazy for days.
Well, it seemed to have healed up pretty well. There doesn't seem to be an
infection or anything. The color of my tongue has returned to normal and
the swelling has finally gone down. However, I was looking in the mirror
this morning and I noticed that when I flex or bend my tongue in a certain
direction, the slice seems to open itself back up. In other words, it
doesn't seem to want to close. This is distressing. I don't understand why
it wouldn't close.
Anybody else ever had this problem? Do you guys think it will eventually
close back up? As I said, other than the fact that I have a two inch line
running down part of my tongue, it looks pretty normal....much better than
I did last week.It doesn't hurt much any more. Just a tad sore (as could be
expected). I think the fact that I've gone back to eating as normal may
have kind of broke it back open but I kinda have to eat.

I've done this on several not-so-pleasant occasions. Sometimes the ER
doc wants to put in stitches. No way. Wounds in the mouth heal fast.
Best thing I've found is keeping a mouthful of crushed ice or some of
that oral painkiller. I prefer the former. The latter tastes nasty,
but it does work.
Applesauce and soup are your friends.

Howdy!
Sounds to me as if the natural movement of the tongue will
just re-open the wound.
I am not a doctor but it sounds like it will continue to do so
unless you get some stitches.

Rinse with a peroxide rinse to prevent 2ndary infections.
Or perhaps add periodex

it might be one of the meds you're on. but I would check with your
neurologist, and read up on the side effects of your medicines just to be
sure.
