HI Holly, SO frustrating!! We have been through 4 VEEG and never had
luck with provoking one while hooked up.....Things we have tried that
MIGHT help you.......
Fast for a few meals if that has triggered him in the past....
Sleep deprive.....
Phase reversal of sleep, stay up all night then go to sleep in the
morning
Video games......in a dark room
Thinking work, stressful especially (really challenging Math, long
writing essays, reading )
Exersize bike
Other stressors that trigger him at home?
(I know, at home you can do everything right, take meds, get sleep, eat
right and still see seizures, get wired up and do it all wrong and they
do not come.....SO frustrating)
I hope they can do some of the other testing. I know that Ictal Spect
is part of the testing and the need a seizure for that, inject an
isotope and run the scan.
Try messing with his sleep cycle a few days prior to going back in?
Did they stop his meds? Sometimes that helps for some as well.
BEST wishes, Hang in there. Rest up now......I know how tough those
VEEG can be!

Several people told me drinking some alcohol often helps. (I don't know
Cody's age so excuse me if he's too young to try that)
Good luck!

Hi Jan,
Cody's only 14, so probably not a good idea. ;-) He'd probably enjoy it, but
I'd likely get turned in to the authorities. Thank you, though.

Yes, having dad take turns can be a big help!! We did that last time
(mom cannot sleep in hospitals so by day 6 or so I am a mess!!).
You are not the only one this happens to at all. A neuro's joke is
"what is the cure for Epilepsy? VEEG"...............seems that if we
left our son wired up, he would stay seizure free. At 14-15 he does not
like that idea!
Best wishes, Hang in there. I would not try the alcohol route. Avoiding
caffeine sometimes helps.

Thank you, Gin. I was so frustrated, and wondering if he was the only one to
do that. I told my husband he's going to stay with him the next time. ;-)
