Thanks for the info.

Although I've never actually had any experience with the vagus nerve
stimulator, I do know a little bit about it - how it involves repetitive
electrical stimulation of a nerve in the neck (the vagus nerve). I think
it's actually stimulated by magnets.

I also read that although it wasn't a cure for epilepsy, patients could
still get 50% chance of greatly improved seizures, and the side effects
are pretty mild.

Sorry I can't be of any more help, but maybe somebody else in the
newsgroup might know something.

All the best

My VNS was implanted 10 days ago... the staples & sutures come out today.
The bettery has been running all of 3 days.
The side effects are just like they describe when you use your magnet:  it
feels like you are short of breath, someone is tickling your throat, or you
have indigestion but you can't burp.
However, as far as epilepsy is concerned -- it's as if the tension on a
rubber band has suddenly been released in my head.  There's no real way to
describe it.
I would advise looking on the National institute of health (NIH) web page to
see the surgery.  ( http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/surgeryvideos.html --
Vagus Nerve Stimulation VNS therapy)  (Yeah, it's a little gross.)  But,
once you see that, all the info that Cyberonics sends you is a mere
formality at that point.
