Gin,
I have been taking Keppra for over ten years now (2*1000mg and 1*250mg
tablets/daily) I have had
Grand Mal epilepsy Since birth in 1969. I never expirienced any side affects
except the normal drowsiness
and benefits for me included totally halting my day-time seizures to only
10-15 since I first started on Keppra
aswell as reduction in the severity in my nocternal seizures. Also I was
able to sleep for at least three consecutive nights without feeling tired
next morning from the Keppra or too many bad seizures in one night
As regards the deppresion, aslong as the seizures decrease in
quantity
or severity, I certainly haven't experienced any since starting on Keppra
in my early twenties but I cannot vouch for teenagers.
                            regards from
                                  Matthew Geliot.

Keppra has made me extremely irritable and very aggressive.

My husband has noted that I am also a lot more grouchy since beggining
the Keppra as well.  Is it the meds? Hmmm....
BTW, I sat down and really read up on epilepsy and the different types
of seizures, and found that I have about 5 or 6 different types
including Atonic, Tonic-Clonic and Myoclonic. (It only took me 23
years; I must be in denial or a have a bad case of procrastination!)

My doc says irritability and contentiousness are listed as side
effects of this med. Plus, it's expensive as hell. But so far it is
working. Nothing else ever did.
