Hi, my wife just had epilepsy surgery where a good portion of the tip of her temporal lobe was removed. After the surgery she complained of tunnel vision where she can only see in the direction she's looking in - neither up or down, left or right. Have others had this experience and is it permanent. (This is Sunday and she had the operation a week ago Friday). She's having other side effects as well such as sensitivity to light and sound, trouble finding some words (we were warned about this one), and she's extremely emotional at times - bringing her to tears. Hi Rob, I had similar surgery in July, 1999. I didn't have side effects like you describe. They sound almost like a medication overdose. I am not a doctor so this is only a theory. Her surgery probably took 6 hours, so her liver has been working hard all week to remove the drugs used for anesthesia. Thus it hasn't been able to keep up with her epilepsy meds. If that is the case, things should improve soon. I found it helpful to sleep with a silk scarf covering the incision. That kept the stubble from digging into the pillowcase and pulling at the wound when I moved my head.
