Hi all, I am new to the group.  My wife and I are having out first
baby, my wife has epilepsy, and while her seizures are usually at night
once and a while she will have a seizure during the day.  She is
concerned that she might drop or fall on the baby if she has a seizure
during the day.  What have mothers done or parents have done with in
this situation? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
FW

Welcome to the group.  What type of seizures does your wife have?  Does she
have a warning before she has a seizure?  I didn't have any problems with
my two children, except when I gave birth.  The nurses were freaked out
before the first one because I told them I was worried about having a
seizure.  I didn't have a seizure, but I did faint.  The nurse was with me
and held me up so I didn't drop.

I remember when I was a teenager before I was married I was babysitting my
sister's twins and her 4 year old.  I could tell I wasn't feeling well, so
I left the twins in their play pen.  I laid on the bed and had a seizure.
My niece can still remember coming up to me and telling me she would take
care of me.  It worked out OK, she helped me place a phone call to a
friend, who came right over.

Here is some information from the Epilepsy Foundation regarding parenting
concerns.
