Hi gang, just thought I'd give you an update:
It's now been 6 months since my surgery, and I've been seizure-free since
then! I haven't gone that long since I was diagnosed.
My brain seems to be functioning normally (as "normally" ever, anyway). I'm
working full time and feel great.
Six more months, and I can start learning how to drive! :)
Thanks for your support everyone,
Hilary

Congratulations. First where did you have the surgery. I had my surgery
about 2and 1/2 years ago and still am not seisure free BUT there is a
reason. 2 days after the surgery I had a stroke and none of the nurses
or doctor's contacted my Neuro until about 6hours after the stroke
happened and when he found out he went BAlistic because no one informed
him and the Neuro Surgron was blaming everyone but himself for the
stroke. I have tried about every med. out there and have the VNS I'm
just going to have to get to the fact that this is a part of me and may
never go away. I am Lucky to have a loving wife and two loving children
who don't think anything about me not remembering things or bumping into
things. They just want to protect me and know that they are always there
for me no matter what I need. God has blessed me with so much even when
I start to feel sorry for myself because I can't work or drive. Yhis
past couple of weeks with what is going on down south has really brought
that to my attention. I pray that the people from Katrina will be able
to pull their lives back together. Mike

Hi Mike. Sorry it didn't work out so well for you.
I had a right temporal lobectomy at Vancouver (BC) General Hospital. They
gave me excellent care.
I don't remember whether I posted this before, but during the surgery they
found and repaired an aneurysm in my brain, so the surgery would be worth it
for me even if I do have seizures again.

Good for you. Well done. Taking the driver training and test should
be pretty easy compared to the last 2 years or so. I hope you continue to
have good health and happiness. G./

Congratulations Hilary, thats fabulous news. It's great to hear success
stories on here once in a while just to show that there is always hope.
Here's to a happy and seizure free future.
Darryl.

Hilary, that's fantastic news!!
Not too long ago I renewed the drivers license I got six months after my
surgery. Save time, renew online, right? I forgot they'd use the same
picture. I had buzzed my whole head to match the surgical site, so my
license still shows me with only six months worth of hair.
