Hi.
Remember been having these for the last 5-10 years, but perhaps as long as
twenty
years back (I´m 40), but by then in a very light, non-frequent mode.
My d-v now also ends up with a feeling, that I've dreamed this before.
After two of my d-v´s in the last 5 years had been folllowed by black
out´s - one fatal -
I started on medicine, Trileptal.
It cannot remove the d-v, they do still arrive about once a month, but were
definitely more
frequent (perhaps 3 times a month) and longer lasting (15 secs.) before.
But first and foremost, hopefully they can stop me from blacking-out.
A MR-scan showed nothing unusual in my brain - not in that matter ;-)
- but an EEG (Electro-Encephalo-Graphy) indicated epilepsy in both the left
and right sides of it.
But the medcine seems to have increased my perspiration a little too much
during my sleep.
Have any of you experienced it too ?
Regards
Pete

If either of you are doing any searches, check out Simple Partial seizures
(what the aura generally is), and also Temporal Lobe Seizures (the older
name) or Complex Partial seizures (newer term that includes TLE.
The Deja Vu (already seen) described at top is almost exactly what I
had, and is usually caused by a seizure starting in the *right Temporal
Lobe, and possibly spreading from there, if it generalizes or leads to loss
of consciousness. If it were in the Left Temporal Lobe the sensation
usually would be a Jamais Vu (never seen) where your own place might seem
like a stranger's.
I started on Dilantin that gave poor to average control over 12-18
months before we changed it. (My Neuro said it's usually prescribed first,
where it might work, since it's older, better studied and most of the side
effects possible have been identified. It's also cheaper since research
costs have been recovered years ago, if it will work.)
Your test results are 'interesting'. Many of us have noticeable marks
that show up on the MRI that cause the szrs., but yours appear to be an
Electrical disruption (on EEG) between the 2 sides that somehow conflict
with each other. That could be reason for some different meds. than I had
used before I got full control.
Mine for Rt. T.Lobe that work for *me, are Tegretol CR (Carbamazepine
Controlled Release), and Frisium (Clobazam) that was developed in last ~10
years as add-on medication.
You could check down the http://efa.org U.S. EP. Foundation website and
see if there's info on the meds. you use, or specific to above seizure
names. Night sweats I had were ahead of my getting full control and I
suspected (at that time) I was having mild Simple Partial seizures during
the night. Supposedly our guards are lower as we sleep, so some types of
seizures might present during night, even if we're fully controlled during
the daytime. (The aura described is part of S.P.szrs. too.) G./
