Have you been able to relate any of the auras (simple partial szrs) you've
had with what you were doing at the time? e.g. any foods that you don't eat
frequently, extra alcohol than eg. at other times, changes in health (colds,
allergies) that might be different from times you weren't getting the
auras? Even extremes in weather (mugginess, high humidity, low air
pressure - ahead of rain, can affect some of us and give us auras. The last
of szrs. I had I was able to predict storms 2-4 hours ahead of their arrival
by headaches from drop in air pressure.
Sometimes we might have physical reactions as result of things like
above, that could lower our 'seizure threshold' (the point at which we
could become prone to szrs), that we might not relate to above.
(Grapefruit by the way, as well as alcohol, should not be used with Tegretol
if you have to go back on it.)
Hopefully you don't. If you do, you would be somewhat 'lucky' (if
that's a word we want), since many times if someone stops using Tegretol and
some of the other Anti Ep Drugs, we might not be able to go back onto the
same one we had previously used. At least I had heard that about Tegretol.
(I've used the latter alone since 1994, and reduced but with Clobazam
(Frisium) since 1996.) For my type of CP seizures, I don't plan to stop
using it. But some people are able to. G./
