At home or at work--where has most of your seizure activity occurred.  And
what factors may have caused seizure activity--stress, sickness, etc....
Any replies appreciated!!

Mary, I didn't mean for the question to be terse, just a simple inquiry.  I
have had seizures for 31 years--and 95% of any  seizure activity I've had
has occurred in the workplace.  In fact, my first seizure in July 1974 was
at work-- I just wanted to hear from anyone whose seizure activity was more
in one area than another.  Thanks for any replies!!

Ok, that's fair enough.

I've only had one MAJOR ('grandmal') seizure - it was while I was asleep in
1993, witnessed by my husband who knew exactly what was happening.

I have approximately monthly 'deja' episodes.

Forgot to add that they seem to be the result of a large meningioma causing
pressure on my brain, when it was removed surgically I was almost back to
normal.

All my seizure activity (one grandmal at 17 years and numerous partials
since 12?) seems to have accompanied a period of sleep deprivation.
Stress may have been a factor too.  The grand mal was brought on by a
strobe.

Other things like alcohol, illness, etc. can lower your threshold.

Medication can raise the threshold.

I just had an EEG on Monday and unfortunately it actually caused some
mild partials (my arms kept twitching during the strobe), I can
definitely attribute that to lack of sleep and stress (just finished a
major certification exam).  And that was on medication... first seizure
activity I can remember since 97... :(

It's not unusual for the Flashing lights during the EEG to trigger a
seizure, whether we react to it and are aware of it (like you were), or
whether it just shows up on the Ink Scrolls during the test.  The advantage
though of it happening (like you describe above) is that they'll have a
reliable set of results with respect to the types of waves they are looking
at, that determine the types of szrs. you might be having.  They might use
result to determine if any Med. changes might help, or to tell if you're
having better control than you were on earlier tests.    G./

I thought that was one of the aims?

I suppose it would be if the subject were prone to having seizures.  If they
weren't, an EEG wouldn't? usually.   G./

Lack of sleep and emotional stress are the 2 major factors for me. I think
I've had more at home overall (especially early in the morning), but I've
had plenty at work as well. Eating foods with MSG or hydrolized protein is
another trigger - I have to read every label (and ask the servers when I go
out to eat).
I had surgery 4 months ago and haven't had a seizure since! :) I was getting
them once or twice a week before. I have had a couple of "weird feelings" as
someone was mentioning in another thread, but they've been so fleeting that
I can't even be sure whether they were auras.
