Just wondering if someone who has these can tell me their experience leading
up to them. I mean the few seconds (up to a minute maybe) just before it
happens.
Thank you,
Beck.

A few that I had, someone once described here as 'brain-fog'  leading up to
mine.  Sometimes when it was cloudy or ahead of rain (low air pressure)  I'd
get a foggy feeling like someone was talking to me through a filter or 'fog'
so it wasn't clear like normal sound.   It'd also get those at times when
the low air pressure above didn't apply.   That's what made it hard to try
find a Consistent way, when those would happen.
Many I had (when I was having them), no one else was around, but I'd
find scribbling or writing that I didn't remember having written.   Once I
got the  last of the Complex Partial szrs. I was having under control,  most
of those have stopped now (I think ! :-< ).     It was disturbing though
finding some notes that were 'gibberish' that I had written while 'away'
when those were happening.
I think the Absences are grouped under Simple Partial seizures? on
websites, so as more control was being reached on the stronger szr. types
(my Complex Partials, or Grand Mals),  the S.P. ones might tend to be the
'remnants' of what's not controlled yet? if that makes sense.
That's why I assume those have stopped, as I'm not finding any of those
'strange' notes now over past ~3? years, and no one I'm around has commented
about my 'leaving' the conversation temporarily and returning. (Those were
symptoms *I had when mine were happening.)  hth   G./

Thanks for that. I had those foggy feelings, I also find that on overcast
"sad" days I get worse with these problems. I guess I have to brig it up
with my doctor again. My last couple of days (Monday late night) I have been
having these odd feelings I was getting before. I have been diagnosed with 2
things and these feelings I get are apparently not related to either. Just
annoying me that I have to feel this way. Anyway. I haven't written any
notes that I don't remember writing, but I have this book I write stuff in
when I am feeling on a downer mood and if I go back a few months and read,
its kinda weird, doesn't make much sense. But I do remember writing it. I
just get my pen, open the book and let my hand go.
I haven't really had any absences recently (that I know of) but these
feelings I have gotten before every absence, have come back really strongly.
Thanks again for that.
Beck.

Howdy Beck!

I have absolutely no indications.

One second I'm fine.
The next second -- as far as any witnesses are concerned -- I'm "lost in
space!"

The same holds for every type of seizure that I experience.
I don't have auras!

That must be a pain, not having any indication at all. I find that I get
this really odd feeling just before. Problem is that I may get that feeling
100 times and only 5 time I end up "lost in space." I just get on alert when
I feel that way.
Thanks for the reply,
Much appreciated.

That's how it has been for me. The weird feeling seemed to come before every
seizure (I was getting Complex Partials), but I would get it frequently
without a seizure happening.
I had right temporal lobe surgery four months ago, and haven't had one since
(knock wood).

I was going to ask my neurologist about this exact topic, but I have felt a
lot better since an increase with another medication I am on, (Therefore I
don't know if it is related to epilepsy or not now).
Its annoying still, I know that.
Do you still get that odd feeling (since the operation)?

Do you ever get any kind of sour or eggy taste, strange dizzy feeling (what
I called 'the twilight zone' on another post), or swirling type sensations
3-10 minutes before?   Or like Dave, do you just go quickly into a seizure?
(The other stuff I described -- taste, aroma etc. is what some sites call an
aura -- some people don't get those -- I guess I was 'lucky' since I had
time to find somewhere to try lie down, when I finally  knew what it was.)
Just wondered.
(I think I told you? that sometimes 'absences'  are listed under simple
partial seizures on some sites if you're searching around too.   I had
absences as I got nearer full control of my Complex Partial type ones. )

Yes I do get the dizzy kind of feeling, It is more like very very severe
paranoia and fear mixed up. I once told a doctor it was like: A child gets
frightened of the "thing" under the bed (monster or whatever they think it
is) and you can have a massive light under there showing there is nothing
there, but they still have that "what if..." I get like that. I have to
check behind me every few seconds, and then I get the dizzy, then a foggy
feeling then I am gone for a bit, then its all good again. But as I said to
Dave, I get all those sensations up to the "gone for a bit" and 99% of the
time I don't go, I just come out of that feeling and I am ok. This is why I
questioned it, I just want to know if these feelings I get are related to my
"epilepsy" diagnosis.
Thanks for your info (and putting some words to my feelings too, I can use
these to describe to my doctors and maybe get them to understand.)
Thanks!
Beck.

Two years ago this Thanksgiving, I was at my sisters house and I was
stressed to the limit.  Lots of things going on and I was sitting at the bar
and had feelings --not an aura exactly--but I knew something was going on
with me.  I sat  there and my sister asked me several time to make myself a
plate to take home.  My response was okay. and I continued to respond okay
to everything she said.  My sister told me that I didn't black out or do
anything to embarrass myself, but she knew something was happening to me
when she asked me, "are you allright?" and I responded with "okay".   I also
had mini episodes of this at work.  It's like you slowly fade and away and
come back.   Thankfully, I do not drive, and my epilepsy--31 years this
month--is more or less controlled with medication--I try to avoid holidays
or big gatherings as I don't want to be the "main focus"

I have only had a couple of absences that were witnessed, the other times I
have been on a buss and waiting to get off at my stop when all of a sudden I
am 3-4 stops passed mine and I know I wasn't "there" for those few stops. A
few things like that have happened. But my paranoia type feelings are really
bad at times. I was hospitalised because I wouldn't let my mother out of
sight, literally. If I was in the bathroom or toilet, she had to keep
talking so I knew she was there. It got really really bad for a while until
my doctor found a medication that has almost completely cleared this
paranoia up. Before the medication I wouldn't have looked behind me, I'd get
my mother to do it when standing near me. I am not 100% sure if that is
related to the epilepsy diagnosis or not though.
