Havn't psoted to this group in some time. I have had two gran mal siezures
in my life. I have been taking 400 mill of diantin for the last 17 years.
Anyone aware of what an AVM is?

I had an AVM.  Arteriovenous malformation.  In your brain you have arteries
then tubes to thin it out and it turns to a vein.  With an AVM that tube is
not there to thin out the blood and so you have an artery shooting straight
to a vein.  Too much blood flow.  I had two angiograms to find the AVM,
during one of the angiograms they tried embolizing the AVM however it was
progressed too far.  It was ready to hemmorage (? spelling).  I had brain
surgery back in 1993 to have one removed.  I'd be glad to answer any
questions you may have.

I became a candidate for radial surgery. I go to the VA but their was a
problem with who was going to pay for it. Thats what I think the problem
was. I get along quite well. The last siezure I had was in 1990.  They tell
me I was born with it. I have had all kinds of tests to find out what I had.
The 400 mill of dilantin does a good job but I still have times when the
feeling comes on and I have to deal with it for a few seconds

They told me I was born with it too.  Alot of people are born with it and it
goes undiagnosed. Most people never develop any problems with AVM's however
there is a risk of hemmorage.

The last MRI I had a few years ago they had a hard time finding it. I was so
small. But if I don't take the med I feel like I will have a siezure. Wow
that must have been a trip having brain surgery. How do you feel today

Doing pretty good.  I still have the possibility of having seizures in that
area due to the scarring, however the chances are very small.
