April Showers Bring May Flowers - 14 May 2005 05:40 GMT I am gonna have a hard time stopping.I live in a stressful environment. Ive got allot of problems. God is my only suport. I love Jesus hes my savior. Im still a baby christian in my own way.
Julie - 14 May 2005 06:49 GMT Hi Nikki, one scripture that helps me is Isaiah 41:13. In the New World Translation it reads: "For I, Jehovah your God, am grasping your right hand, the One saying to you, "Do not be afraid. I myself will help you."
So picture your loving heavenly father holding on to your right hand, having faith that he is strong and compassionate and he will not let go of our hand.
Take care, Julie

G.Ross - 28 May 2005 18:13 GMT > Been having allot of petite mals i think. i go for lab june first. ** Are you taking any pills for those? If you post the names someone else here might have ideas how they take them and if they worked for their kind of seizures.
found
> 2 lines of coke in my bed room. it was kids father he said he didnt know > where it came from. ***** Next time get the Vacuum and clean it up, then throw out the vacuum bag. I don't know how U.S. laws work but if they find that where I am, Social Support could be cut off.
i am an x junkie by the grace of god im still
> clean. *** Good for you. Some of this stuff is hard, and with pills we use for seizures of various types, alcohol and 'illicit drugs' could *really mess up seizure control. When you see the Dr. you could also ask them if you should get a 'Medic Alert Bracelet' if they use those where you are. They need your bloodtype, and there's a 'one time cost', but if you have a councillor or Social Support contact, or the Dr. might know, M.Alert will waive the charges if your Dr. writes a note saying you need one, but can't afford the annual fee at the moment. /

Seizures and Epilepsy can make us 'down' or depressed as it is, without others around us picking on us. It's 'easy' sometimes for others to point at us and say 'you're nuts' or hurtful things, but that's not true. We have just as much value and feelings as anyone without seizures. When you see the Dr., could you ask him too if he knows if there's an Epilepsy Association close to where you are, and if they might have a 'new member **support' Group?
The Toronto one near me, has about 10 open "drop-in meetings" each *week. They're a Social Group, where you can just go to meet others, or chat about whatever you want. You don't need appointments, they're during Day and Evening-- some are Men only, Ladies only, Men or Ladies, Children and Parents, Children only, etc.... So the Lady's ones might be e.g. Mondays 10-12, Tuesdays and Thursdays 2-330pm , Saturdays 11 to 1, and maybe 2 evenings a week. The number depends how big a town you're near, and how big the Epilepsy Association is.
I'd like to see if something like this could be helpful to you. Your Doctor could tell you if they'd help or if they're 'a waste of time'... Several people I know here (Toronto) found these really helpful since they didn't know *anyone else who had seizures or might understand the sorts of things they were having and fears about 'what if I have a seizure near my kids?' or 'how can I make my house safer, in case I had a seizure there?', and stuff like that. I hope some of this helps. Maybe some others here will have some ideas of things you could try too. Please stay around, we have lots of people in North America, New Zealand and Australia (sometimes), England and parts of Europe. It's a little quiet right now, but some days there can be 40-50 posts and others only 3. It depends on the Seasons, what people are doing, if Schools are in or on holiday and other things that take poster's time to handle. But often you'll get some answers or help here over next 2-3 days, by some people who don't read the group every day And if you don't get answers you wanted, or want to ask some other questions a second time, you can re-post those too. (Most of the messages here I see 'expire' after about 8 days, so older posts than about May 20 or 21 don't appear on my message lists. That's why posting again about Mon. or Tuesday if you don't get other answers, might get some replies from someone who only reads the posts once a week. Sometimes weekends are busier too, especially if it's Raining !! where ever people are.. ). Stay with us. G./
Hurricane Season Starts June 1st - 03 Jun 2005 14:55 GMT IM USING CAPS BECAUSE IM VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR LEGALLY BLIND.
DILANTIN300 MG @ BED NUROTIN300 MG 3 TIMES A DAY DEPAKOTE500 MG TWICE A DAY. WELL I MADE IT TO GET LAB WORK DONE. PRAISE GOD, I HAD CANCELD 4 TIMES FOR SOME REASON OR ANOTHER. ALL MOST ALL GOOD REASONS. TO BE HONEST I DONT KNOW WHAT KIND OF SEIZURES I HAVE. THE FIRST TIME I HAD ONE, I HAD 5 MULTIPLES IN A ROLL THROUGH OUT THE NIGHT. THEY CALLED THEM GRAND MAL. THEN THE PARAMEDIC CALLED THE NEXT OCCURRENCE PARTIAL. I ALSO FALL INTO BLANK STARES. AS SOON AS I CATCH MYSELF I STOP MYSELF FROM THIS DEEP TRANCE OR STARE WHAT EVER THEY MAYBE. NIKKI
G.Ross - 03 Jun 2005 15:58 GMT > IM USING CAPS BECAUSE IM VISUALLY IMPAIRED OR LEGALLY BLIND. > > DILANTIN300 MG @ BED NUROTIN300 MG 3 TIMES A DAY DEPAKOTE500 MG TWICE > A DAY. **** Do you take those with Food Milk or Juice? I'm not sure about Neurontin, but Dilantin and (I think) Depakote work best if you have Food (Breakfast etc.) or Milk or Juice with them. It helps them digest without upsetting your stomach and they start to work faster.
** There are people on the Group who use Neurontin and Depakote -- perhaps they can post here if there are anything you should WATCH OUT for. (sometimes certain foods or juices shouldn't be used with some pills -- I don't know if there are any for those two).
If your Pharmacy didn't give you a writeup with each pill, or the pharmacist didn't tell you if there was anything to watch for, there's a Pill Glossary under http://efa.org ---> you have to click down to Medications? then it wants you to type in the Name of the Pill, then click on GO or SEARCH to get a One Page on the pill type. Then you can click on Print or File, Print if you want to print the description on the screen. ***IF it would help, someone can change the SIZE and Darkness of TEXT that PRINTS for you on your computer. It will use more ink but if it makes printouts easier to read if it's DARKER it's better for you.
Once you have printed one of the PILLS writeups, you can file it into a folder if you have one set up, and then type in the SECOND Pill's NAME in the same place where the first pill name was. (If you have to put the mouse are front of the older pill name, press the mouse button and drag it over the old name, let go of the button -- if the shading covers everything you wanted to erase, press the DELETE Button one time at right of Keyboard. ( *If you made a mistake on the shading, move the mouse away from where you were shading, and tap the mouse button 1x, then start over. )

AS SOON AS I CATCH MYSELF I STOP MYSELF FROM > THIS DEEP TRANCE OR STARE WHAT EVER THEY MAYBE. NIKKI That sounds like the right names for them. We sometimes have more seizures at night since they can happen easier while we're asleep. ***IF you start having those Every Night, you should ask the Doctor you see if you should take more of any pill at Bedtime so you're not having seizures during your sleep. Those are no fun, and you could hurt your tongue or teeth if they get too strong at night while you're asleep.
I'm going to look up a page that has *First Aid for Seizures and I'll post the Website address below here... Double click on the address, then turn on your printer (if you have one) and click either FILE , PRINT, or the PRINT Symbol to print the page so you have it. It lists what each seizure type LOOKS LIKE and FIRST AID someone around you should do to help you get past the seizure safely and without chance of hurting yourself while the seizure happens. Back in a minute. G./
G.Ross - 03 Jun 2005 16:35 GMT I left your Morning post below this. The best First Aid Chart I found is on the Idaho website. It's at http://www.epilepsyidaho.org/safety. WHEN you click onto that it goes to the *First Aid page with a Beige Background -- to PRINT a copy for yourself, there's a 'button' on the page that says "Printer Friendly" of this page -> when you click on that it takes out the Colours so you can then click onto Print or File, Print. When you've done making a copy of that important page, you can then click on the "Back arrow" at top to get back to the coloured page, and you can go from there, where ever you want at the Idaho site.
IF you have a Favorites Setting on your computer, you can click on Tools? then Favorites, and it will set that page as one you want to look at again, and it'll remember the Page address -- I think it wants a name for the Favorite -- you can call it Seizure First Aid or something and OK ? and it will then remember where it found it. There are lots of other pages on the Idaho site that have useful information on safety, what different seizures look like and other stuff. Under the First Aid chart, it also describes the **things we do during different seizure types -- so you can see what a Grand Mal looks like to others, or a Simple Partial or other types. A lot of times we do the same things if we're having only one kind of seizure, so the Doctor can tell the kind we have by what we say or do during the seizure -- if we get a funny taste or smell that's not there, that tells the Doctor which type of seizure we might have.
Another link I use is the U.S. Epilepsy Foundation at http://efa.org . When you FIRST CLICK THAT, if you set it as Favorites (too) then, you can go there from your Favorites list without needing to remember or retype the efa.org stuff another time. That site at **Top Right has a list of "Hot Links" that are most often used pages. Three down on that list is First Aid I didn't look at, to see how good it is, compared to Julie's one on the Idaho site I gave you above. *Five down is Medications -- if you click on THAT it goes to the Pill Glossary --> that's where you can look for the Pill Name you use, and click it one time, and get a page of information on pills you use. At Top corner? or Bottom Corner? there might be a Printer button to set up a page you can print. If there isn't you can just click on either File, Print or if there's a picture of a Printer, you can click on that to print a page. Then you can use the BACK ARROW to move back a page, 2 or 3 times, if you want to type another pill name, or "FILE, Exit" to leave the pages and go back to either the First Page on the EFA Site or back to your own computer. That EFA site, or the Pill address is handy to have too, so I have that set on a favorite in case I need it another time, then I just go to Tools? and Favorites list and by clicking on what I called it, I can go to the site without needing to remember the name of the Pills Dictionary. /G.
