Hi Group
I am looking for suggestions from you as I have allergys and it is getting
that time of season here...I have been on tegritol for years and had a
seizure last summer and was told that it could have been because I was
taking Claritin which I was told may have blocked my Tegritol..
I am looking for advice on what I may be able to take and what works for
some of you???
Cheers,

Here's a link for you:

he_market_how_can_i_treat_my_allergies.htm>
Seldane and Hismanol (both off the market now), Claritin, Alavert
(really the same thing as Claritin), and Actifed are the only things
that have been pretty successful for me. For nasal stuffiness, I use a
prescription medication (spray) and have an inhaler for asthma. A long
time ago I also needed to use prescription eyedrops for itchy eyes that
weren't controlled by allergy medications.

Another thing to watch for, if your Pharmacy didn't give you a printout
advising it, but *Grapefruit Juice interferes with Tegretol function. (One
of the acids that's not in other Citrus juices interacts negatively.) I
use a Juice Blend with my morning dose, but always check the ingredients to
make sure there's none of that 'yucky' juice in there too.
If you hadn't seen that, there's a Medications Glossary under Ep.
Foundation of America (which is where I think I found it before my Pharmacy
added it to their printouts) -- http://efa.org .
Note spelling of 'Tegretol' if you do any searches. (Doctor's 'geek
name' is Carbamazepine.) G./

Howdy Jim!
First -- I'm being perfectly serious here!!!
The best thing that I have ever found for allergies is dry snuff (a pinch up
the nose.) The mentholated snuffs are great decongestants too!
Snuff leaves a lining on the mucus membrane in your nose which can not be
penetrated by pollen or other allergins.
Take a look at the "Snuff Page" on my site!

Hi,
I have had epilepsy since birth and in my childhood years
developed chronic hayfever as well as having the epilepsy,we discovered
through trial and error(as doctors in the early 1960's did not
know)that anti histimines do in fact trigger epileptic episodes, and
always did with me,(doctors these days do recognize that anti
histimines can cause problems with epilepsy)I would suggest you speak
to your local gp or pharmacist and they should be able to suggest an
alternative to using anti histimines for allergies. I use a cortizone
base spray, which is non-drowsy,( Beconase )by Glaxo Smith Kline, for
hayfever and has given me control of it. I dont where you are from Jim
or if it is available where you are,but may be worth looking for if
Hayfever is your problem. wrote:
