In a series we will examine the fatal flaws in logic and science that
make the two pound diet useless for normal considerations of weight
loss.

The two pound diet was concieved when andrew chung saw in a movie that
mountain climbers with their high energy intake needs ate about two
pounds of food a day.  He then made the false assumption that all people
should follow if they could do well on two pounds without gaining
weight, all could also.  Sadly, computer science has a term for this
kind of thinking, "garbage in - garbage out".

Such simple minded observations are ok but fail if not considered
carefully in real world application.  Mountain climbers use dry and
dehydrated foods for weight consideration.  Normal diets contain
substantial amounts of water in the foods used and in added water.
Dehydrated foods add up to 4 times the amount of water to reconstitute
the foods.  We can get a feel for this by considering a food that is
similar in nature to high energy mountain climber food and in fact used,
trail mix kinds of foods.  Here is a typical example using chocalate
bits and nuts and seeds:

  1___ [cup (4.2 oz)]

  Calories 480

Which gives 3840 calories for two pounds.  When using dehydrated foods
and adding water to using the dry foods above one can see that weight
would increase greatly.  Thus mountain climbrs use multiples of two
pounds of high energy food for great amounts of energy required.  But
the garbage in garbage out does not end there.

On average a typical person needs 10 calories for each pound of weight
to maintain current weight.  If the two pound dry amount was used in a
normal diet weight gain would quickly follow or one would be obese in
the first place at around 380 pounds.

The two pound diet from first conception was flawed in simple logic. The
two pound diet fails the mountain climber test.

You might, but most of us won't be reading it.

Chung is a waste of space and replies to him are a waste of
cyberspace.

The two pound diet is the product of an unstable mind. It
needs no more discussion than discussing the efficacy of
weight reduction by guillotine - a certain method of
removing 12lbs of ugly fat.

Both are nonsensical.

Why say more.

IOW, the mountaineer diet is really the equivalent of 8 pounds of food
a day, the 8PD-OMFG diet.
