Is there any meal I can eat at MacDonalds.  I took my Grandchildren last
night, I had chicken nuggets and chips, with a sweet & sour dip, and it put
mt BG up to 14.   Have I to avoid this in future.  Never eaten there before!

And also need to find out more about carbohydrates and
their effects on blood sugar levels.  Chips and sweet n
sour sauce alone are hefty in carbs, the nuggets have
some but a better choice than a burger.  I go for the
salad, dunno if you get salads there, they are fairly
new to Australia. Unless you eat the guts out of a few
quarter pounders and nix the bread then you aren't
really going to feel satisfied after a Maccas meal, too
many carbs for the piddling amount of food.

Black coffee - no sugar.

On a serious note, I find that it's the fries and, in particular,
the shakes that raise my bg.  If I have a burger, I go to
BK [1] and have a bacon double cheeseburger (with the bun),
and don't have much of a problem.

It could just be me, though.

[1]  Mainly because I loath McDonalds.

Agreed, ditch the fries and drink only water, coffee or one of the huge
range of diet soft drinks they have (er....one)

I can get away with taking the top half of the bun off a burger, chucking it
away and eating the rest of it.

Like Steve, I prefer BK.  Interesting that McD's copy of the whopper seems
to have no taste whatsoever.

Go easy on the dips when you are having chicken - haven't checked the stats,
but I suspect there is enough sugar in the dips to give you heart failure
from reading the carb count.  I know that dieticians tell you that you can
have sauces, but this usually translates to "you can wave the bottle in the
vicinity of the plate, with the cap on" once you have taken their portion
sizes into account.

After watching like a hawk to make sure they did really fill your cup
from the diet tap!

Always used to annoy me pre-dx when I got diet after asking for regular
coke - would cause a lot more than annoyance to have the opposite
mistake now.  I've solved the problem by no longer eating at McDonalds,
not through any attempt to be virtuous but after a couple of years of
healthy eating I just don't like their food any more.  Quite a change
from eating a 1/4 pounder, large fries + coke plus an extra couple of
cheeseburgers almost every week pre-dx.

I was caught by over-sweetened sauce in TGI Fridays a few weeks ago.
Had some peppercorn sauce with a burger and fries and injected what I
thought was a suitable amount of insulin then three hours later I was at
13.4 mmol/l :-(

The milkshakes are suicidal!!!!!!! After a very poorly weekend a couple of
months ago I will strongly recommend never ever having a McD's Shake without
a fully capable pancreas to help you out!

I remember being in Macdonalds about 15 yeras ago with the kids. A girl
collecting the waste came to the table next to us. "Can I have your rubbish
please ?", she asked the man sitting there.
"Sorry, luv. I've just eaten it", he replied.
