My brother in law was put on statins although he did not have diabetes. He came off them when he discovered they had very significant side effects. He found out what a colleague was told to come off them by his doctor after suffering the same effects. A lot more people seem to have issues too.

 At present in UK
 3,000,000 patients are using Statins which are useful in certain cases,
 and the reviewed user targets can help reduce penalties to GPs' payments.
 Another few millions are expected to be prescribed same.
