I always thought that was a great name for a group of
religious politicians; maybe that was the genesis of
"opening a can of worms":-)

I first learnt this as a Cub, singing around campfires:

Nobody loves me, everybody hates me
Think I'll go and eat worms
Long ones, short ones, fat ones, thin ones
Worms that wriggle and squirm

Bite their heads of, suck their juice out
Throw the skins away
Nobody knows how fat I grow
On worms three times a day
