For keeping records

I haven't been following things here very long so maybe you are all aware of
this piece of software for keeping records just as detailed as you would
like to make them about your diabetes. It is totally free and is worth a
look. From the opening few sentences:
"Health" is a software application designed for people with Diabetes and/or
Hypertension (High Blood Pressure). "Health" records and graphs your Blood
Glucose, Blood Pressure (Systolic, Diastolic, and Pulse), Weight,
Temperature, A1c Test, Cholesterol, Supplements, Medications Schedule,
Questions for the Doctor, Bowel Movement, Medical Team, Meal Plan, and Pain
values. The data can be viewed in a line or bar graph. The software contains
an array of statistics... "

I found it invaluable when my blood pressure medication was recently changed
and the resulting graph showed a very slow but steady climb in an upward
direction which my GP could not argue with. Also, when I had to attend the
diabetes clinic for the first time it was a simple matter to print out such
things as current medications etc., which was just as well, as they had
records showing me still on beta-blockers even though they had been changed
a month or so previously.

I hope this helps someone.

I also found it very handy when I had to keep a detailed 3 days food diary
for the dietician I saw on my first appointment at the clinic.  It is so
simple to keep as the computer is always on and it only takes seconds to
enter absolutely everything even down to the last cup of tea (no sugar, 1
level tsp dry skim milk powder <g>). She was very impressed with it.

I've found keeping bg readings against time are easiest kept in a simple
database. I keep mine in an excel spreadsheet, and store it on a usb
stick, which I carry with me usually.

Ultimately, if it works for you, use it! :)
