I got a letter (another) from another hospital telling me I have an
appointment there too:-)

Seems that my GP's clinic arranged one screening and my regular 2normal"
clinic arranged another. I don't know if I should tell the hospital, or just
go and have another set of pics done.

Maybe I can get a boxed set and send them to friends at Christmas. What
d'you think?

fwiw, i would get the second set done, and if they differ you got ammunition
to shoot 'em down. i "know" you would enjoy shooting 'em, just like i would.

i look forward to my boxed set rotflmao

Even though it's tempting to go for the boxed set lol in all fairness to the
very long waiting lists let someone else have go :)
In over 40 yrs of being a type 1 I have only had my eyes checked once with
eyes being dilated and never had any photos taken :(
Oh that's right I remember why now. I never see an endo for my diabetes.
Still alive and kicking

Any of the high street Optical Chain such as Spec Savers should have a
registered ophthalmist that can do a full examination including the retinal
scan with a digital camera whether you need specs or not. I believe they all
have to be able to do it but if I am wrong they will be able to point you in
the right direction. Under law as a diabetic you are entitled to at least
one free examination per year (no glasses required). Just ask/tell them.

'retinal scan', bugger I am getting my soap box's mixed up ;-)
I am all for one and against the other, no prizes for guessing which.

Sorry should have made that clear I go and have vision checked every yr and
wear glasses but no eye dilating.
When I saw the endo a few wks back about my addison's he mentioned them
having a new camera so wished them happy snapping :)
I  had so many bad experiences with endo's and so called diabetes
specialists I shut the door very firmly 20 yrs ago. opened it slightly 3 yrs
ago and found no difference in the attitude/knowledge so door now shut and
bolted.

I suppose with a digital camera using the flash your eyes will be dilated
naturally.

I just picked up my new specs and Vision Express always have a good old
rummage around in my eyes. Same again this time, but I didn't get my specs
from them, I took the scrip to Specsavers. Didn't save a penny btw!

Beav,

Sorry i've not been around as much .... been busy doing the r/l thing
and doing lots of overtime to pay for a head gasket job and all the
related ancilliaries - end result i'm skint but the car runs and drives
like new.

Anyway it's winter coming so i'll be around a bit more now the little
darlings round here aren't allowed to play out in the dark which means
my car is safe and means i can relax in "here" :)

Oh aye .. i have passed your place Al ... 4 times in the last 2 months,
i've been going to Milton Keynes via the old A1 and i roll past MM on
the way there and back, not ventured off the A1 as yet but you never
know :-) If i do turn up, feel free to NOT show me the tattoo on yer a.s lol

TTFN.

Pat.

No apologies necc Pat and I've not been around here as much myself. Been
busy doing r/l stuff too. I've got Bignascarfan coming to stay on Thursday,
so it's "whip round like a dickhead" time too:-))

Good on yer Beav
Just curious but does the laser treatment affect the driving licence
bike/car?

No it dun't Dave, but I'm not convinced that I'd have corrective laser
treatment for my shortsightedness. The longer I can keep away from lasers,
the better.

Anyway, I just bought my new specs (today funnily enough) so I'm Ok for a
couple of years. Ultra thin varifocals are getting f.cking expensive though.
Cost me 240 quid just for the lenses. Bastards. Shoulda gone to Specsavers.
Oops, I did :-))
