hi,

Diagnosed T2 this August. Metformin and diet controlled. Lurking in the
corridors of your forum has helped tremendously both mentally and
physically. Just wanted to pop my head round the door, introduce myself and
say a big Thank you

Hi and welcome to the group.
Not a place you thought you would be but here you are like the rest of us!
Well im sure you will over the next few months  will learn alot more than
your medical team will tell you as i found out and to my advantage as we on
here seem to be one step ahead of the game!
Without this group id be lost so firstly  a BIG thankyou to this group!!!!!
and secondly ask all the questions you need to ask as im sure between us all
i bet one of us will have the answer you need!
As always...... NEVER be afraid to ask any question about this'THING' we
have no matter how silly you think the question is as im sure over time you
will overcome your fears and uncertainty
over this new 'illness' and get back to leading as normal as life as before
being diagnosed
I went through the same process and still have problems using the D word but
at least ive seen my Hb1Ac reduce to an interesting 5.2 from what i was told
a 12.9 BGF level.
Just remember this is not the end of the world??? just a new beginning and
in my case ive never been healthier although it has taken a year to do but
well worth it believe me. Ive had times were ive doubted what my future
holds for me but 16 months on im stil here and all my bits work fine! LOL
I consider myself one of the lucky ones as i had a company medical 3 years
too early by accident and got diagnosed earlier than i would have done!.
Ok lifestyle had to change allot but i still have my weekly kebab and
cider(ok not a good thing) but i have to work a little harder to be able to
enjoy that treat by exercise and a good diet. My doctor knows of this and
has said it's not such a bad thing once a week as long as i do work towards
that by diet and exercise. To that end i have seen my weight go down from 18
stone 6 pounds to 13 stone give or take 3 pounds.
Well that's my life story so far and my yearly MOT is just 8 weeks away so
if things are not better or at least the same i will say here but as far as
my doctor is concerned im doing ok and is pleased with my results to date. I
hope my new results back up my new lifestyle. At worst im looking at a 5.8
Hb1Ac as i have had a few problems over the past 3 months but i will post my
results here in December as soon as i receive them no matter what! I jus
hope that the levels remain either the same or slightly lower, time will tell
Until then...Sorry to drone on and welcome to the group!
