I've just had Diabetes UK on the phone, asking if I'll do an interview with
the Sunday Mirror : ) Scary. Diabetes UK want me to be positive about
having diabetes and being able to control it. I wonder how often I can
mention testing? : ) Wish me luck!

In 2 weeks, the lady from Diabetes UK thought. I haven't heard from the
paper yet, so I suppose it'll be next week now - I'll let you know how it
goes.

One small step for Nicky, one large step for diabetic-kind!
The little voice in the wilderness that might change the way
people see and treat diabetes :)

Make sure that everything you say is what you feel is the
really important stuff. That way when they edit it, there
won't be any "filler" where good solid stuff should be.

That's good advice. I'm writing down what I want to say, so I can follow
Alan's advice too : )

Go, Nicky, Go!
No need for luck - copy the politicians - say what you want
to say regardless of the question:-)

Absolutely - even remembering to speak in words of one or two
syllables only. ;-)

ask for sight of the article before it is published .
A long shot, there might not be time, but you might get some little control
if there was.

Not a bat's chance of them doing that. I don't let anyone I've interviewed
for an article do any more than check direct quotes for accuracy, otherwise
the journo loses control - and it's their professional reputation and
paycheck on the line.
Nicky.

Even if you are checking the quotes for accuracy you have a little bit of
control.

By the sounds of what Diabetes UK want from you they know you will mention
your fight to test how else could they expect you 'to be positive about
having diabetes and being able to control it.'
I am sure you will handle the interview positively. Just stay calm and tell
it as you found it to be.
