I just saw an infomerical for diabetic products and they mentioned a
meter I never heard of. It is called QuickTek from
http://www.hypoguard.com/quicktek.html.
It costs $20 from http://www.carepluspartners.com/store/101012.htm
The sticks cost about $19 from

It appears Hypoguard makes numerous meters.
Advance meter. Sticks are about the same as walmart's Relion.

Here is some info on Hypoguard meters. I didn't look for the pricing
of the meters/sticks below.

I went to hocks. com to see what it cost and found a chart which
compares meters. http://www.hocks.com/metercompare.htm.
Looks like the damned monopoly Lifescan and Roche have so enjoyed over
the years is about to be broken. My wallet may finally get a break.
Now if we could break the monopolies on scripts.......

The Hypoguard products have been around for three years. I wonder why
they're not well known. Even so, the Relion brand at Wal-Mart is
competitive.

Due to my co-pay, these are no cheaper than any others for me, and are
more expensive than some. Lifescan and Precision have special deals
with my insurer so I get strips for less than I'd pay for these. I
suspect that's the main reason they aren't cleaning up.
